That's ridiculous. Was Alex Bregman not valuable because he played 3B? Like Callis said, Carlson is a 80 grade defender at SS. It would be detrimental to the team not to play him, an 80 grade defender, at SS.

2026 MLB Draft Thread...White Sox Control Draft/Roch the House
Boopa1219 replied to caulfield12's topic in FutureSox Board
I need the Sox to draft this absolute freak in round 2 please. He's everything their system needs. He's an outfielder, he's an up the middle guy, he has power potential, he's a freak athlete. Need them to float him down to 41 -
There is only 4 outfielders on the list, that's a huge area that needs to be infused with talent system wide. There is only 4 INTL players that were signed by the Sox something that is being addressed and we should see the benefits from David Keller starting next year. But... This is the best the farm has looked in some time. Yeah it is missing the "star power" of the 2016 rebuild but this system has actual depth and there appears to be waves of talent not just a group of guys. Which is encouraging since Getz/Shirley/Janish are two years into rebuilding the farm.

I don't get why people are so quick to want to trade Sosa. Even with Murakami and to a lesser extent Austin Hays, this team needs all the power it can get. Sosa even with his flaws hit 22 homers last year, he has value.
-
Trying not to be hyperbolic but Fuller might be the most important hire the Sox have made in some time. Hope he stays for a long time, and hope the Sox let him add more people under him.

When you have your own network, every spring training game should be broadcast.

I get it this time instead of when Hahn did it in 23 and took Jacob Gonzalez. The 2024 Draft was Getz first draft, makes sense (somewhat) that a new GM would make the pick, especially when it was such a high pick. I do wish he listened to the scouts though. I would the farm system looks good considering that we're 2 year into a farm rebuild. Kevin Goldstein when he was at Baseball Prospectus said that it takes 3 to 4 years to rebuild a farm system. I agree that the one thing hold the farm back to having some serious depth, and some more upside is the lack of a good international operation that routinely turns out interesting prospects. Getz hired his INTL staff back in 2024, and their first class won't be until next year. One of the things that make the Dodgers and Brewers systems so good, is that routinely sign premium athletes in the international market and are able to develop them.

I like this move. Fedde is an arm that this FO (Bannister) has already had success with, they can probably get him back on track. They only need Fedde to last till the ASB or till when the younger arms are ready to get some starts in Chicago.

This trade leaves Andrew Benintendi as the last man standing for the Hahn/KW era. I wish the team ate some money to get a better prospect return. Luis Robert should be a lesson to GMs everywhere, when you start a rebuild it’s better to trade your premiere asset (2023 Luis Robert) coming off an hot season than not.

Corey Ray a 1B coach for Nats, and other off-season Old Friend News

Good for him but that's kind of a bummer, I was hoping the Sox would hire him to the front office/player development staff. -
Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
Boopa1219 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I do not want Matt Shaw on this team. I don’t think he could stomach being on the south side anyway… for reasons. Plus, he puts himself before the team. -
I said nothing political. Anyway, I hope all the players get out safely and their families are safe in this time of turmoil

I wonder how Trump’s distraction war will impact the Venezuelan market. Obviously my thoughts are with the people of Venezuela, and baseball isn’t important right now, but I do hope that the players were able to make it out in time.

I expect the team to sign another starter, and one or two players with experience in the back end of the pen. I wouldn't be opposed to the Soc reuniting with Kopech, he doesn't fit the culture/vibe they have now.

I’m not shocked they’re on the team, I’m more shocked that Benintendi is on the team still. Surely there has to be a bad contract for bad contract swap

I’m trying to make a lineup and don’t know where to put guys, that’s good and a welcome change.

What would you guys say are the Sox biggest system wide needs? I would say that they need power, and that they need outfielders. -
Sox hire Carlos Rodriguez for Assistant GM role
Boopa1219 replied to Lukakke Appling's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I love this hire for the Sox. Some great minds from around the game and outside the org have bought into what Getz is building. I'm curious to know what his role is with the Sox, he has a background in scouting, player development, and the international side of things, departments that are headed by others currently. There's two front office moves that I would like to see the Sox make. I would love for them to hire away someone to be their head of analytics, and I would like to see Getz bring in an experienced GM as an advisor, something I'm still shocked that he hasn't done. -
White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
Boopa1219 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think they will, especially with new ownership but even if that’s not the case, I trust FO to use money more wisely than the last regime -
White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
Boopa1219 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The entire fortune of the organization just changed drastically. The 2025 Sox just had one of the best possible years for a rebuilding team. They found a manager with exciting potential, they identified the foundation of an exciting core of guys, and they landed the first overall pick, in a draft with two elite talents at the top in the best draft class in several years. Rebuilds mean nothing if ownership doesn’t spend the money to augment the roster, but the is rebuild is super promising. -
White Sox sign Anthony Kay to 2Y/12M deal
Boopa1219 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I like the signing. As some have said, I’d rather see him than Perez, as I believe Kay is 5 or 6 years younger. I do want them to sign another vet for the rotation, my ideal choice being Mike Soroka, and have Burke and Cannon battle it out to be the #5 starter. Curious to see what Bannister/Bove can do wit Kay to elevate him. -
I don't think that's true. Ever since the 2012 CBA came into effect, the Sox have spent all the money allotted to them to sign amateur talent in both the draft and free agency. Every year under Mike Shirley, they've exceeded their bonus pools to sign their guys. I think the reports of them signed guys in classes of 2-3 years down the line, Is enough of an answer to that question.

White Sox hiring José Leger as first base coach
Boopa1219 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know nothing about the guy but because he had a background in player development, I’m going to say this is a good hire. I think teams forget that player development is something that happens throughout the entirety of a player’s career, so I would want as many player development guys on my staff as possible.
