  1. Over, I expect him to get his OBP up considerably too. Pitchers won’t pitch to him as much next season.
  2. We’re having civil debate, it’s what (redacted) would want
  3. Vargas’ number were due in by his horrific start, I have confidence in him going forward. I’m excited to see him after another year of his new offseason plan. Regarding Matt Shaw, I don’t want him on my favorite time. He seems like a me guy and I think he’s a cowardly, not a good combination.
  4. Those coaches usually play a role in how pitching/hitting is taught throughout the organization. I think the new pitching/hitting coaches should be recommended by Fuller and Bannister, and not Venable since they’re the ones who outline how hitting and pitching is taught throughout the org.
  5. I’m shocked that Katz is gone. He’s had nothing to really work with the past couple of years, especially in the bullpen and I think he’s done a good job at developing pitchers at the ML level for them during his time here. A part of me would rather see him in Bannister’s role than Bannister. Katz generated a lot of value for the Sox with the assets they were able to get back in trades for the arms he developed at the ML level. I’m curious to see who the hire is there, I imagine it’s Bannister’s recommendation, and it better be a good one. *********** Im glad Grady Sizemore is sticking around, shocked they didn’t move him to the FO last winter but I’m glad they’re doing it now. I’m glad they’re doing it now. I guess Fuller is bringing in his own hitting coach, he should and not Venable imo. Pitching and Hitting coaches should always be GM hires if you ask me.
  6. A 10-2 Notre Dame team that lost by a combined 4 points to Miami and Texas A&M is probably a playoff team, especially if those teams are playoff bound and/or Top 25 themselves. And look up Car’s numbers against P4 schools, outside of Mendoza of Indiana who played Illinois and Iowa. no one is better than Carr against P4 schools this year (Miami, A&M, Perdue, Arkansas).
  7. I don’t know if you watched those games but he wasn’t the reason why they lost them. I guess by your logic all their games going forward are meaningless, which is a stupid way to look at it when every game ND plays is a playoff game from them. They only lost those games by 4 points. I’m as shocked as anyone that their defense has been horrendous, the Ash hire isn’t working out and I don’t expect him to be back, but they did hold Arkansas and their offense which has been quite good to only 13 points. They went from being a top 3-10 defense to being a sub 100 defense, which is insane. Freeman has elevated recruiting there but Carr is real, they got the QB and that can take it another level too
  8. CJ Carr is that dude. He’s hands down the best first year starter in CFB this year and one of the better QBs overall so far.
  9. The amount of injuries at the beginning of this season can only be seen as a weird coincidence, I don’t expect that to happen again. Vasil and Gomez are prime examples of their ability to find/create/develop pitching. Injuries are irrelevant to a team’s ability to do either of those things.
  10. They kinda proven so far that it can. Some teams are able to create pitching, the Sox are one of them.
  11. What a season for Shane Smith. Seeing his progress and development throughout the season has me very encouraged for the Sox and the current regime going forward. I think Smith has 2/3 starter upside and they found him in the rule five draft. They took someone else's scraps and turned them into a very valuable asset. Smith, along with Martin, has a secured spot in next year's rotation. He went for 140.1 IP, hopefully he's up to 175 IP+ in 2026. I know he did a lot of the work himself but this is a huge player development and pro scouting win for the Sox. They don't have too many of those, certainly not ones that are this successful. Going forward at least we know the team can find pitching anywhere.
  12. Any questions about his future as a starter have been put to rest. He and Martin are the only starters that you can pencil into the rotation for next season
  13. Reading too much into it in regards to Ishiba. These deals are always made 3-4 years in advance.
  14. The 29 other teams have been operating this way, the Sox finally started to get on their level. The only thing that could kill this deal if the way his body develops, something to monitor.
  15. A lot of these INTL deals are made when the kids are 12/13 years old.
  16. Getz and his front office are making it a point to acquire guys with front approaches and high OBP potential. That’s one of the key differences between Getz and KW/Hahn, this group seems to understand the importance of getting on base consistently. They drafted a ton of guys with OBP skills and good approaches per all the publications, Caleb Bonemer, Billy Carlson, Jaden Fauske, Landon Hodge, Sam Antonnocci, Nick McClain, etc. They’re loading the org with those type of guys.
  17. It looks like a good trade form both sides. Get'z trades look a lot better ever since he got more of his guys/outside hires into the org. Fuller, Bannister, all the analyst they've hired, Watson, Barfield.
  18. Mike Denbrock cost ND that game last night, his play calling was fireable. It's the second game in a row that he's cost ND. A lot of people, myself included, have Jerimayah Love as the best player in the country, he had 4 carries at the half and 10 on the game, to go with 4 receptions. That's criminal. During the first 40mins of the game, their offense relied solely on bubble screens. They didn't establish the run or the vertical passing game till the last five minutes of the third quarter. I thought their defense played great, they certainly played good enough to win. CJ Carr is a dude, didn't look scared out there at all. They may finally have found the heir to Brady Quinn and Jimmy Clausen. ND probably still a top 10 team in the rankings, I don't see them losing back to back games but Mike Denbrock's seat has to be hot, that job should be highly coveted.
  19. Maybe shut him down in a couple weeks? Hopefully he goes 150 next season. Great pick up for the Sox, Smith established himself as part of the core going forward.
  20. Detroit, KC, and Minnesota to a lesser degree have all undergone significant rebuilds.
  21. They have to bring him back. They fixed him once, they can do it again. A good opportunity to nab, a cheap veteran arm who pitched well for you.
  22. Now, find a way to get rid of Benintendi
  23. Shane Smith is really exciting. I’m glad he’s tweaked the arsenal and he’s pitching this deep into the season. Good move on the Sox by giving him a couple weeks off to save his arm
  24. My OP was talking specifically about position players, sorry for not making that clear
