Sox and a Prayer

So did we ever find out what the eyeballs were for that chili and WSD posted Thursday night? I know it's not Manny related and nothing happened at Soxfest, obviously. Just wondering.

I agree. I know the padres have always said that they had no knowledge of anything being wrong with shields. Also know the league office couldn't find anything with Shields. I just find it mighty suspicious- especially when they carried 2 sets of medicals on other players. I don't want to beat a dead horse. And I know it has been discussed at length here. At the time of the investigation, I always hoped the league would have found San Diego guilty. And the commissioner ordered Tatis back to Chicago. I know, what a pipe dream. But could you imagine Tatis, Eloy, Robert, and Moncada! That would be fun!

Plus I'm not buying that it's happening this weekend. Didn't Hahn say a couple of times last night that a decision would probably be in a couple of weeks by Manny?

I'm sure the Sox would've wanted to do that too. The problem is the Sox could've offered 10/350 or whatever the magic # is for Lozano and there still would not be an agreement. He would wait and see if others would top or match it. I mean, that's his job to try and get the most money for his client. This is how the baseball offseasons are going to go from now on. FA's holding out until spring training.

What scares me about this is that rumor a couple of weeks back where the Sox FO is split on the value of Manny. Kenny thinks he is more valuable - Jerry doesn't. Now Jerry is negotiating. I believe it came from one of those posters who claimed they had a "sauce."

That's just it, we have just found out that they are the mystery team. But they may have been a part of this process for weeks now. Supposedly may have put the "high" bid in a week ago. They're just new to us.

Right. It's not going to be NWO style as fun as that would be. I do think the Sox want the baseball world to come to a stop and take a look at us when Manny signs with the Sox! I mean this would be an historic contract for Manny, and for the Sox. Really unprecedented. So is Soxfest when they announce it? Maybe.

Because Jim most teams want to have money to sign their own players after 7 years of control to extensions! When you're talking about the Sox, Padres, braves, Yankees, and Astros - that's what you're dealing with. That's why you can go sign the 30 and over to 3-4 year deals at whatever you can afford and the market dictates.
