True, but if he really did want to sign with the Sox why wouldn't he have already? I get holding out for higher offers, but if Lozano is still seeking north of $300 million I highly doubt any team jumps to those heights merely by waiting. The entire free agent market seems to be in a holding pattern
-
Strange that there has been ZERO Machado news for quite some time now. The longer this drags on, the less confident I am in us signing him.
-
Realistically, Pederson could be a bridge to prospects like Robert/Gonzalez/Basabe/etc. in center field, or could be a longer term option if acquired. If the cost is reasonable this is a move we should make
-
Nothing new has come out regarding Machado in the past two weeks beyond pure speculation it seems. Sox seem to be very much in the hunt, but things have been oddly quiet at Machado's camp seems to be waiting out the market.
-
Maybe they spoke to Machado and he said he is not interested in moving his family to Canada? Kinda kills a potential deal
-
I think you are correct here. Sox have the best offer on the table currently for Machado, but there is some frustration by Lozano's camp that there is not another serious bidder to drive the price up for the White Sox. Sox are content to let their offer sit as no other team is currently willing to come close to that. I hope eventually Machado decides to take an 8 year deal with the Sox and gets it done.
-
I think we are at the point where the Sox have made their best and final offer likely verbally known to Machado's camp. They are sitting on that offer and seeing if anyone else will join the bidding, knowing they have that offer in their back pocket. It is purely a waiting game right now.
-
Lozano might be holding out for best possible offer? Sox do not have to increase their bid when their are no other better offers on the table Eventually this damn thing needs to end though
-
This 7/175 offer leak might just be agent BS in an attempt to get other teams interested in bidding. I have to imagine the Sox would go much higher
-
It's not just unloading Heyward's contract, it would be unloading his contract without taking significant bad salary in return, which is not going to happen
-
I do not buy the Cubs as being in on either player. Their payroll is projected to come in around $220 million for 2019 already, adding Machado/Harper would push them way into luxury tax hell and strip them of any flexibility moving forward.
-
I think the Harper meeting is going to be pretty influential tomorrow as to what plays out with Machado
-
Have a feeling we don't have Machado resolution until mid next week
-
F*ck, how freaking nice would it be to go into this weekend having signed Machado? I can taste those beers already #108ing
-
Nationals challenge is that they are already over $200 million in lux tax payroll right now. Signing Harper would likely mean they lose Rendon next year.
-
I actually liked Dan Clark previously and would follow his work. He has been a disaster this offseason and doubled down on what was obviously BS info. Hey, at least he is eating it and deleted his account?
-
Harper back to the Nationals makes sense, but the Nationals are now over $200 million in payroll BEFORE potentially signing Harper. Signing him would easily push them into the luxury tax, and leave them with zero flexibility moving forward.
-
Chances for Harper are considerably lower than for Machado I would say. Sox are still monitoring Harper's market, but I would not expect them to meet absurd contract demands Boras will have.
-
Interesting to note that we have heard nothing with regards to the White Sox and Harper in nearly a month, but technically we are not "out" on him. Machado must be more likely to ink?
-
The only reason Madrigal did not play SS in college was because Caden Grenier was the best defensive SS in the country. Madrigal could likely be serviceable at SS, and above average at 2B defensively.
-
The whole league would be in on a player like Trout. Now is the time to nab a premium free agent with limited competition for them
-
Season tickets are the least of the concerns. If the front office can not deliver, I think they will be very hard pressed to convince fans that this rebuild will actually work. I always try to remain optimistic, but this is a pivotal moment for the franchise that they cannot let slip away.

me too

If Machado does not sign with the Sox, the entire fanbase will have a complete meltdown at this point
-
The instagram story can't be a bad thing for our chances I guess? I'm quietly confident we get a deal done with Machado
