  1. The Jordan tweet heavy implies something is going to happen today, which would be awesome. I refuse to get worked up anymore after such a roller coaster of an offseason. We are still likely weeks away from a resolution.
  2. Hopefully Hector has been right about this all along. He's the only source reporting this really though.
  3. Exactly this^ Announcing the signing of Machado would be met with joy. Another team announcing a deal with him would be a huge blow to the fanbase.
  4. Remember early in the offseason how all of the mania was about Harper? Technically we are still in on Harper, but everything shifted to Machado mid December or so
  5. I don't think Machado ends up getting more than $250 million at the end of the day. Max offers will be 7-8 years, topping out around 240 - 250 if I had to guess.
  6. Nobody is taking Heyward's 5 year remaining contract off the Cubs hands without getting a huge ransom in return, or dumping an equally bad contract.
  7. Sox have played this well. I really have my doubts about late suitors coming in and being willing to hand out a +$200 million contract this late in the offseason if they were not heavily planning on adding Machado/Harper at the start of free agency. Contracts like that need to be planned for.
  8. I see this dragging into late February or March, as Phillies and White Sox will just continue to wait out the Harper/Machado markets. If another serious suitor has not emerged, it is unlikely that a team will come out of nowhere to offer significantly more than where the White Sox would be willing to go. The lack of news is not necessarily a bad thing for the organization, as we are in a strong negotiating position. Machado's market will not be better with a qualifying offer attached and several years older if he signs a short term deal.
  9. I think him holding up as a starter it out of the question, which knocks his trade value way down. Until he shows he can remain healthy he just is not worth much. A 40 man roster spot is a question mark even.
  10. Durability has been a major issue for De Leon. I'm not sure he has all that much trade value right now.
  11. Makes sense completely. The misinformation has been brutal from the National guys to especially the local beat guys. We are nearing the end of this process and I would imagine the Machado/Harper saga will draw to a close in the coming few weeks. Neither player is taking a one year deal or is likely to drag negotiations into the season. Sox are in a good spot, just need to continue to be patient.
  12. I will be disappointed if they enter the season with Banuelos or Covey as the fifth starter. That has to be upgraded to something more solid.
  13. Who the heck is AG Sports Network? Everybody is an insider at this point? Jeez
  14. Hope we have not reached the "turning on one another" point in the offseason. Sox fans need to stick with one another through this painful rebuild and will be better for it. Insider or not, no deal is done until officially announced. We all sit an continue to wait. If the Harper domino falls, I would expect the market to heat up pretty quickly following.
  15. No confirmation of this yet. Could be pure speculation, but interesting to monitor.
  16. Apparently Vegas is no longer taking prop bets on where Bryce Harper will sign. Strong smoke he is going to the Phillies as soon as tomorrow.
  17. None of this seems like it will resolve itself soon. Machado's camp will continue to wait, knowing the Sox offer is not going anywhere. It remains unlikely, outside of the Yankees or Phillies, that another club jumps in with an offer high enough to nab Harper/Machado away. Sox are playing this the right way by not blinking, as I do doubt that Harper/Machado fail to sign by the start of the season. Either player would be foolish to accept a one year deal to retest the market, as a down season could end up costing them millions and years.
  18. There are certain areas we really lack depth, especially 1) Middle infield 2) Corner Infield 3) Young starting pitching (High A and below)
  19. Was hoping the Sox would be interested in Pomeranz on a similar, cheap one year deal. If he sucks we cut bait, but if he bounces back he could be a valuable trade asset?
  20. Pipe dreaming a bit, but if Hahn walks out with Manny and Harper in tow it would be absolutely incredible. Not going to happen, but would be insane.
  21. Pederson's bat is so much better than Engel's, you could deal with mediocre CF defense. At some point this team needs to transition to trying to win games, and getting a black hole like Engel out of the lineup is essential.
  22. Zero indication that Machado or Harper will sign anytime soon, so this all may take some time to play out.
  23. Not sure what there is to say that has not already been beaten to death at this point. The waiting game continues.
  24. I would be shocked if Machado or Harper took 1 year deals and left gigantic amounts of money on the table. If they can't get what they want now, why risk seeing what happens a year from now?
  25. I highly highly doubt the Machado negotiations have anything to do with Soxfest. National guys would pick up the scoop of a signing pretty quick.
