  1. sully just might have needed a few days off the Reds have pitched the s*** out of him for three or four years plus, he ain't been used to being in a pennant race Thank you, Sully
  2. nice to see Sully have a good inning we're going to need him to be the guy in the sixth and seventh the rest of the way imagine he will pitch to LeCroy, then Damaso comes in for Koskie in the eighth just my opinion
  3. functional is what I would call him he gave them three innings we need to make them use their pen
  4. let's get some breathing room before LaTroy, Everyday Eddie and their other studs loosen up
  5. payback for the home run Crede Lost in Baltimore that's my opinion
  6. it appears the strategy was to get a few innings out of lefty, then go to a righty
  7. I believe Stewart is free agent that's why Toronto dumped him for Kielty problem with him is he is injury prone and really doesn't have the arm to play center field Jones i believe is only an arbitration guy. Only way he gets loose is if the Twinkies don't offer him a deal, similar to their handling of Ortiz. Yes, Jones can play center. How well, I dunno
  8. top six Koskie, Hunter and AJ The Punk I believe like to see Mark have a quiet 1-2-3
  9. payback for the 20 homers hunter has stolen from the sox the last three years
  10. If Pulido comes through they might. and the sox would give you $100 to stay away
  11. nice job of stuffing one on AJ's knuckles. Sox need to think double and single against this guy. His windup is funky with that pause.
  12. word they're offering on the pre-game shows is the Twinkies have turned to Pulido because he is a left-hander pitcher who throws a lot of changeups, and the scouting report sez the Sox have problems with that. Farmer sez he has fastball, curveball, slider and changeup and the Twins are looking for a big start out of him. Also sez the key for Buehrle is getting Corey Koskie out.
  13. if the Twinkies non-tender Jones, the way they did Ortiz, I'd vote for the Sox picking him up. decent outfielder who can play multiple positions. can hit in several spots in the order and he can run. Twins would be foolish to just let him go -- but they were foolish to treat Ortiz that way.
  14. I like Graff at the top of the order. He takes a lot of pitches. Gets a fair share of walks. and robbie is a good bunter and hit and run guy in the second slot.
  15. Gammons is all over the park. which teams doesn't Gammons like? as for the Twins, Jones, A.J. and Guzman could all be overboard. They have to make room for Mauer at catcher, considering he is from St. Paul and they drafted him over Mark Prior (real smart). Jones is gonna score a big hit in arbitration -- and they have already decided that Hunter is going to be their big-money outfielder. And I think they're tired of waiting on Guzman to become an upper tier shortstop. Just a hunch.
  16. as I said, i'm sure there are a number of factors. just hope the Sox take advantage. this is a big game with Santana waiting tomorrow and Radke on Thursday. let's do it.
  17. Mohr instead of Jones for them one (hopefully) good thing: Kielty ain't around. To the best of my memory, he has owned Buehrle. Hope it works out to be a good thing that Kielty is in Toronto and makes Mark more comfortable
  18. One other factor that I forgot to mention: Pulido is left-handed. It gets Jose out of the lineup and turns Robbie and Carl around to right-handed hitters. Plus, Gardenhire can come with Mays or Reed outta the pen as right-handers. Maybe he thinks he can force Manuel into a couple of pinch-hitting moves. I just think it's a curious point of the season to give a guy his first big-league start in 2003.
  19. I believe those Frank at bats against Pulido were in 1993 or 1994. Also saw footage of the guy pitching to Ventura and Julio Franco the park looked quite different much nicer now
  20. just wondering why people think Gardenhire is giving this guy his first start of the season in THIS game. Be the equivalent of Manuel brining up Brian Cooper or Ryan Kohlmeier from Charlotte and sending one of them to the mound tonight. Sox fans would be demanding his dismissal BEFORE the first pitch. What do you think Gardenhire is thinking? Gambling that if they pull it off it is a huge lift for his team for the final five games with the Sox? (It would be.) Convinced that the Sox struggle mightily against soft-tossers they have not batted against this season? (They have.) Or is this his only option because Rick Reed has been hurt, he's pissed at Joe Mays for ripping his defense and Eric Milton is not quite ready? (Might be the answer.) Thoughts?
  21. Been to two games against Tampa, two games against Detroit and the three-game series against San Diego, probably 7 of the worst games on the home schedule -- and it's a full day's drive for me If I lived closer I'd be there for all four games.
  22. can't see the Sox spending the money it takes to get Tejada. Not with Maggs a free agent after 2004. But if the Angels sign the Japanese shortstop, wouldn't that make Eckstein available? I realize he has been injured this season and his numbers are down, but he's a solid player who wouldn't be that expensive.
  23. Looking forward to watching Honel, Wing, Fields, Yan, Spidal;e and the others march up through the system We'll need reinforcements in a couple of years.
  24. the man just kept firing twins hit him a bit, but they never knocked him down. haven't seen a pitching performance like that since Black Jack and Alex Fernandez were in town BIGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!
