He probably wouldn't have been if he were with the White Sox.  They'd have tried to change his swing.

i did read that twitter thread earlier this year where a former Sox prospect was calling out the developmental team saying they were "trying to put their name" on prospect by changing their swings/deliveries.

Someone in the Gamethread is claiming Steve Stone said Rick Hahn’s job is safe.  If true, then we truly are fucked.  My nine year old just started getting into baseball and he’ll probably be in college before the Sox are good again.

Do him a favor and get him to start cheering for another franchise

  3. just looked at Vaughns minor league numbers, i forget he didnt play at all in 2020. Vaughn has a total of ~60 games played in the minor leagues. Thats it. He never developed and his career looks like a big turd.

Its beyond me how anybody would want to be drafted by the White Sox. I'd instruct my agent to hang up on Hahn if he came calling. Would be better to take the year and try again.

He's been saying for decades to people in the industry that it's best to target finishing in 2nd place and dangle carrots in front of (gullible) fans.

He has been operating that way for 42 years and counting. 2005 was the lone year the White Sox advanced in the playoffs, and it took several unexpected career years for it to happen.

Had he just ran the team correctly and gone for first place all these years he would have made way more money? I don't understand the logic.

I'm sorry, I know it seems melodramatic, but I sincerely hope they trade no one, honestly not even expiring contracts.

I really think the only chance in hell there's ever a wholesale change in leadership is if the franchise totally craters. At this point, I'm willing to sign up for it, no matter how long it takes and no matter how deep the hole -- because the alternative is an eternity of knowing damn well the team isn't good enough and will only ever win again if every hand turns up aces like in 2005.

And I'm being honest here, not vindictive or edgy: I've lost interest in this team. I'm not even watching the games anymore. It isn't to "penalize" the team or "send a message," it's just purely from totally losing hope and interest, and preferring to do other things. I click on SoxTalk almost every day, by rote, out of habit, and 90% of the time I bounce without viewing a single thread. Like I almost can't believe it as I type it, but I'm not sure I would even give a s%*# if they ripped off a 20-game winstreak and suddenly looked like a lock for the playoffs. Maybe I'm wrong, but right now I just can't imagine it. It's like my subconscious has moved on. I'm just done with them. For literally the first time I can remember, the White Sox have ceased to be a part of my summer.

I'm now wondering if it's possible that this fucking clownshow of an organization has somehow snuffed out this candle for me. And if so, what an achievement that would be -- I've been a fanatic most of my life, and I understand the swells and troughs of a competitive window. I'm patient and entertained by the process itself. It's just -- after this many consecutive years of being, overwhelmingly, a source of frustration for me, my brain feels like it's finally becoming trained to search elsewhere for meaning. This is truly EXCEPTIONAL incompetence, well beyond what can be expected even through luck.

For a long time, we could root for signs that they were going to learn, change. adapt, improve, etc. We know now, after seeing them finally get the chance to do it totally right, with all the time and support they need, that, beyond the shadow of the doubt, they cannot. This is who they are. This is what they think works.

They gotta go. Doesn't matter what it takes.

    This should be pinned

The reason they are 30th in OBP at .292 is simply because of their horrible plate discipline!

    0-Swing % - 30th

    Walks - 30th

Pitches taken per at bat - 30th

    3-0 counts seen - 30th

    2-0 counts seen - 30th

The Sox are a severely flawed roster that has a terrible baseball IQ, when it comes factors to a successful hitting approach to get on base.

When your organizational approach is "just tell me how fast he throws" this is what you get.

  7. Do we even have one? I feel like you can look at a team like the Reds and figure it out easily. Watching about 5 games of the Reds (my new NL team) it stuck out easily: Aggression on contact and on the basepaths. The Rays are patient and get the ball in the air. Same with the Giants. Texas built their offense on mashing the ball for power. Cleveland has a bad offense but you can see what they are building which is contact and speed. We saw how the Marlins are building around Arraez.

What did Hahn do? In 2020 I thought it was EV as everyone in the lineup DESTROYED the ball. I thought with an increase in LA we would see what Rangers fans are currently, except more. Why didnt they stick to this philosophy?

The 2023 Sox just look so lost. There doesnt appear to be any goal or philosophy. What is this offense supposed to be?

The 2006 August collapse really sucked. On paper that team was better than the 05 team.

yes it did, Sox had the city by the balls and fell flat on their faces. Never recovered. Imagine where this franchise would be had they secured 3-4 years of good play following their WS. Most baseball fans now think of the Sox as a AAA team no different than the Louisville Bats.

The Sox are just now entering a long, long period of irrelevancy.

Sox have been irrelevant since 2005, and before that the late 90s when Thomas was a national fan favorite.
