I just have a feeling that once the off season is finished we find out that the Sox valued Harper more from the start. Just a suspicion. There was a point a couple of months ago when I thought Harper was the guy. They met twice. The leaked UC photos.

No lol but if everything goes wrong for them and the Sox pull a miracle.

So I guess Rosenthal said on MLBN that if Harper is "priced above Philly's valuation of him" they will walk away. Could be posturing but if they get cute like the Sox did, maybe we can pull a Padres.

The thing that sucks is even if the White Sox go on a miracle run and take a weak central, anything short of a World Series is going to have people saying "If we would have had Machado.."

The Sox really messed up. They may have saved Cleveland from having to trade Kluber. They missed on Machado. They need to sign Harper, so of course they wont.

The Sox have more to lose in my opinion. I have no faith that they will make this right but at least Philly has had a phenomenal off season. Segura, Realmuto, Cutch, and locking up Nola makes it a good off season. They can always say they spread their money around. The Sox on the other hand are arguably worse than last year.

On the bright side, we did learn that many of our members have sources.

If Rabbit is to be believed; they need to shift and just throw crazy money at Harper.

Offer Harper 8/280 with swellopts that can make it as much as 10/360. 35 mil a year might be appealing to him and he seems like the type of guy who would thrive in Chicago and bet on himself.

Are there any moves besides Harper that eases the sting of losing Machado? For example Keuchel, Marwin and Kimbrel on discounts, trade for Joc?

Close this thread. Lets pretend this Machado pursuit never happened and go back to the days where we thought we had a shot at Harper. If they don't get Harper that will be the Thanos snap that whipes me out for a while.

I’m with you man. Not realistic but one can hope. They thought the swell opts would work but they were proven wrong. Hopefully this pushes them to make a real bid on Harper.

I still hope to see them add a SP. You didn’t get Machado, please don’t make me watch covey.

If the contract could have reached 350 then there was probably a swell opt. That is a good offer.

I am just going to say it: I am proud of the White Sox offer. Machado took the guaranteed route , good for him. Let's go get Harper.
