July 24, 20169 yr And Nate Jones breathes a sigh of relief. The guy has seven blown save chances already according to the official box score. And some were advocating that he become the closer. Right now he's not even a reliable set up guy. And that bunt move by Robin in the 9th was classic wasn't it? Mark

And some were advocating that he become the closer. Right now he's not even a reliable set up guy. You do know that all 7 of those blown saves came in the 7th or 8th inning, right?
July 24, 20169 yr In fact, Nate Jones is 3-19 in his career for save opportunities. Sucks to be a set-up man, as allowing a game-tying run in the 7th or 8th when your team was leading, or giving up the lead, = blown save. Edited July 24, 20169 yr by Jose Abreu
July 24, 20169 yr Author QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) In fact, Nate Jones is 3-22 in his career for save opportunities. Sucks to be a set-up man, as allowing a game-tying run in the 7th or 8th when your team was leading, or giving up the lead, = blown save. While getting no chances to register a save. Seriously. Using blown saves to talk about anyone other than actual closer is one of the worst uses of stats in all of baseball. This is way worse than using wins for a starting pitcher.
