November 23, 20169 yr $8M a year for pitch framing is a lot. He's really not even that good at throwing runners out, 23% this past year . Offensively he should never face a lefty and the only thing he brings against righties is above average power...for a catcher. Glad we aren't in the buying market for guys like this.
November 23, 20169 yr Is it though? He has been healthy 1 WAR with higher ceiling catcher that can catch you 110 games and is fine defensively and an excellent framer. Navarro made 4 million, is a worse hitter than Castro and worse defensively. I mean, when you look around at what utility players sign for, a starting catcher signing for 8 mill is pretty reasonable.
