August 16, 20187 yr Very nice. Hopefully the kid can start next year in Birmingham, be up in Charlotte by early June, and make his mlb debut during September call ups.
August 17, 20187 yr Dunning has all the makings of a very solid #3 starter for years behind Rodon & Kopech. Those three at the top of the rotation, plus Lopez & Giolito (if Gio can figure it out) are going to be a very strong rotation in 2020

We couldn’t build a winning environment around a top 5 pitcher in the game, so he gets traded. Nobody knows what Rodon is yet due to his injuries. If he’s injury free the rest of this year and next is he a top 10 pitcher? If he’s a top 10 pitcher do we maximize his trade value if the team is still garbage? Boras is going to get Rodon paid if he reaches top 10 status, and nobody has faith we’ll be the team giving him that deal. To me, I hope Rodon stays healthy and reaches his ceiling the rest of the year and next so we can maximize his trade value. Then trade him at his peak. August 17, 20187 yr Don't like the idea of moving Rodon, he's the only pitcher the Sox have that has proven, even in a small sample size, he can be a top of the rotation stopper. Unless the Sox don't intend on competing for the next 5 years then let Rodon anchor the staff. Getting a bunch of prospects in 2 years won't really help win in 2 years and it would cost us an outstanding SP that could help us win in two years. That's my view. I know the Sox association with Bora$$ is tenuous at best, but Rodon's stuff is legitimately Top 10 in all MLB. Edited August 17, 20187 yr by kwolf68
August 17, 20187 yr At some point you have to dig in as the White Sox. If you are perpetually selling off your top players to fit into your "window", you never hit your window, and you are perpetually rebuilding. The Pirates and Royals did it for decades before they finally struck gold.
August 17, 20187 yr If Hahn gets to the point that he wants to trade Rodon, then you fire Hahn and let the next guy do it. If he can't get the team to at least think it is competing before Rodon becomes a FA, then we need new management.
