Yolmer > Jon Jay

Machado + Jay > Avi + Yolmer

Shitty comparison given Yolmer is still part of the team, its not like we sent him packing to land Machado

strange post

Well no. It is relevant since he won't be in the starting lineup.

Fine I'll take it a step farther:

Machado, Jay, Yolmer on bench > Yolmer at 3B every day, Avi, 8th reliever (since we're likely looking at 4-man bench this year).

Jay is placeholder for Luis Robert and a replacement for Engel who should be DFAed.

Avi's replacement is yet to be determined. Once we know , then the comparisons to Avi can be ddiscussed'

Palka is a tank - strictly a DH and pinch hitter.

Not that it will make him Engel or anything but Palka has lost weight and practiced in the outfield all winter with the aim of being our RF.

my hope is it makes him serviceable enough whilst not effecting his bat at all.

my overall view is I’d much rather have Avi if I was building a team from scratch due to the upside. But this isn’t from scratch, it’s to fill a specific hole with a side note of Manny perhaps.
