FS Draft Preview: Hunter Bishop

Featured Replies

This draft focus is on Arizona State outfielder Hunter Bishop.

Bishop is graded as a 5-tool prospect and is projected to go in the top-10. Nick Hostetler mentioned Bishop as one of several names the White Sox are keying on.

Would love this kid in our system

Unfortunately not happening at 3

Best of luck to him, high ceiling

Didnt start playing baseball until his junior year of high school. Wowser.

Thanks for the scouting report.  What I noticed most was the statement that "the White Sox also have a plethora of outfield talent in their farm system, so committing to another project like Bishop would indicate Rick Hahn and the rest of his team have something up their sleeves in the second round and beyond."

Is this true about plethora of OF talent?  Is the Chicago Now blog affiliated with White Sox in any way?  They likely have some White Sox sources, but that statement seemed a bit deferential to White Sox FO.

Given how the OF talent has produced this season, I have no issue taking an OFer if it is the BPA.

Nope. Not affiliated. Just the opinion of one writer. Have you looked at prospect lists though? Some of the OF's aren't doing well currently but it's one of the strengths of the system. Eloy, Robert, Gonzalez, Basabe, Adolfo, Rutherford, Steele Walker, etc. They have lots of guys. That's all it means.

Tilson is not the guy and Sox will need -- minimum -- another corner OF with HRs. Hopefully, it is someone on that list, but only an optimistic would think so, given the last decade.
