Wait I thought that he had already won this award. That must have not have been the big award and got confused.

If that is the case, would that mean Hahn is not good enough because he fired Ricky who finished second?

He won the Sporting News EOTY which is an award voted on by peers. This one is voted on by writers.

He finally got the team to turn the corner, and then did the right thing with Renteria and Cooper. Then came LaRussa. Should be an interesting off-season.

Hahn does not share in the blame for poor management, decisions and trades...just the ones that work out.

Hahn's work with contract extensions alone qualifies for GM of the year honors IMO.

Extensions were Jerry Reinsdorf's idea and his money.  Reinsdorf met with Abreu and guaranteed he would be with the White Sox long term.

Many posters here disagreed with Reinsdorf about that and thought Abreu should not be extended. 

Abreu was key to the sales pitch to the other Cuban nationals to sign on with the White Sox.
