I would be remiss if I didn't mention a very key contribution from Abreu who hustled to beat a DP ball, that was overturned by NY ,which would've ended the inning and then Eloy hit the HR to cut the deficit from 4-0 to 4-2. Without that bit of hustle it's likely the Sox lose.

Eloy also went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and was the hitting star of the game  with the Sox scoring 9 runs on only 8 hits. No one else had more than 1 hit.

What I've noticed about Abreu is that when he hits a routine grounder and is going to be out easily, he dogs it down the line, but when he sees that it's going to be close, he goes full gas. To me that's the right approach to maximizing the returns on your effort.

Except when the routine grounder gets booted and you are thrown out because you weren't running. Just run hard on everything, its 90 feet gimme a break.

It's amazing how much replay matters, and even more amazing that baseball was so behind on this and it was implemented on just a few years ago.

I wonder how many outcomes of games would have been different if we had replay before.

I feel like robot umps are going to do the same thing once they get it right.
