October 26, 200322 yr http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...t_little_going/ Here's the most laughable part folks. "So let the speculation begin. Will it be Glenn Hoffman, Bruce Bochy, or Jerry Manuel? Or will someone else win the right to keep a clubhouse full of free agents and free spirits focused on winning? Whoever this man is, he had better be tough. There is a strong feeling around New England that one thing kept the Sox from the World Series this year. And that one thing was a competent manager." I used to respect Holley a lot from Around the Horn and reading his columns from time to time. But JM as a candidate for the Red Sox? Come on Michael.
October 26, 200322 yr They must be pretty desperate. Or maybe they want someone with JM's great bullpen managing abilities.

Thanks for posting that Aboz, that's just too damn funny. CWSOX45
October 26, 200322 yr Author They must be pretty desperate. Or maybe they want someone with JM's great bullpen managing abilities. Or maybe Holley used to work in Chicago and happens to like JM and wanted to put his name in there???
October 26, 200322 yr Oh man, Micheal Holley.. what a weirdo he looks like a 12 year old, and hes not the sharpest crayon in the box either
October 26, 200322 yr Author Oh man, Micheal Holley.. what a weirdo he looks like a 12 year old, and hes not the sharpest crayon in the box either Yea, the braces and cornrolls/braids/whatever the hell he has don't fit your stereotypical view of a Boston Globe sports columnist, that's for sure...
October 26, 200322 yr Or maybe Holley used to work in Chicago and happens to like JM and wanted to put his name in there??? Yeah, he was here for about a month working for the Trib, and he was ran out of town.
October 26, 200322 yr I don't think JM was that bad. We could have done a lot worse, like Terry Bevington who was a disaster. If we are not careful we could hire somebody totally incompetent. The Royals went through several rubes before landing Pena.

The Royals went through several rubes before landing Pena. Gotta disagree with you greg. Manuel was terrible. He can't manage a bullpen to save his life, can't motivate a team, can't keep a level-head in times when we need it, can't get up and defend our team when we need it, and apparently he can't motivate teams either. We'll just pretend that Terry Bevington never happened.
October 27, 200322 yr Michael Holley reminds me of Serena Williams if you drained all the liquid out of her.
October 27, 200322 yr Well, no one knows how to yank a starter in the most inopportune time than Sleepy Manuel, so maybe that's why he's mentioned. He would have yanked Pedro in the 5th inning of Game 7, and the Red Sox probably would have won. There's your reasoning right there.

We wanted him to get mad and get tossed - so he did it - and we b**** that it was at a bad time.
