But no team will have more holes than the White Sox, who have 10 free agents out there and available to all the other major league ball clubs. Valentin, who also was acquired by the White Sox in trade before the 2000 season along with Cal Eldred had been a fan favorite before 2003. It seemed as though people hate him now, but talk is that he will return to the Pale Hose for a reduced salary. October 27, 200322 yr I'm pleased with Olivo. If we can get someone of value for him though, and KW signed I-Rod from Florida (he's a free agent too) I'd be all about it. There's just something not right with Konerko. I like the guy, always have... but it doesn't seem like "just" a fluke year.
October 27, 200322 yr We have holes at 2B, SS, CF, RHP (relief), and a hole in our 5th starter slot. That's my opinion.
October 28, 200322 yr We definitely need an upgrade at the keystone positions. As much as I've liked Jose Valentin, I feel like his time has passed him by. Robbie Alomar solidified our infield defense immensely, but I know his time is passed. As for CF, I feel like one of Rowand, Harris, Reed or Borchard will be able to hold down the position and effectively produce while doing so. I think that guy will be Rowand. If the Sox can resign Sullivan, I think Koch, Sully and Wright would do a decent job as righties out of the pen. However, Wright might end up as our 5th starter. In that case, we'd proabaly see Rauch in the pen. We've got Shoney, Wright, Rauch, Stewart, Cotts and others that could conceivably nail down that 5th starter slot. Let's hope one of them can do it effectively.
