Bullpen management

One reason the Sox have blown so many leads is that they score so few runs. The margin of error is zilch. Basically, any time they give up any runs you give up the lead. It’s why they have to blow the whole thing up, not just fix one aspect.

Nothing on this team management or player wise (other than Luis) is particularly impressive, bullpen and bullpen management including. The stupid thing is how much time and money and effort they've put into fielding a mediocre bullpen. You can win with a mediocre bullpen if you have a good offense and a good defense most nights. That's not the Sox.

That’s because the Sox have only one core competency: churros.

Tony Larussa forgot more about bullpen management than Pedro Grifol will ever know about it.
