Glory & Fury, John Henry: A Tale of Two Countries and Sports

1)  There's no way the White Sox fans can exert nearly as much pressure on the JR's of the world, compared to hyper-loyal UK football fans

2)  There's no way after reading articles like this that one can have any faith in the Red Sox or their operations moving forward...if the Red Sox can't or don't even seriously consider spending the money to keep Mookie Betts or Bogaerts, well, that doesn't bode well.   Of course, they COULD have signed Betts, they simply chose not to.  Same with Bogaerts, which was probably the right decision.  But Devers of those three was the most flawed (and cheapest) of the group.

I’m a Liverpool fan since the 1980s, and I stopped watching or supporting them until last month after the Super League travesty spearheaded by John Henry after similar attempts trying to alter EPL / Pyramid structure. I pulled for Everton the year Rafa was there.

MLB and the other closed North American league structures are pure rubbish. John Henry and the other American owners involved in EPL are pure unadulterated scum, and they need to be excised from the league and country now. They are even worse than what Bud and Jerry have done to MLB, despite unleashing their destruction over a much truncated timeframe.

Its no coincidence the Red Sox became my most hated team over my historical despised teams Yankees (AL), Dodgers (NL), with the Twins my primary hated Central team.

Even there you had the Pohlads with multiple billions more than JR refusing to spend significantly on their product...just much better front office personnel and scouting/evaluation/coaching staffs for much of the past two decades.

(Obviously the 2005 and 2008 coin flip Blackout win exceptions.)

Wow, you really don't like team owners.

As a fellow Liverpool fan, I can't totally agree with you about disliking FSG and John Henry, after all they did bring us Klopp, and winning the Premier League after 30 years of waiting and the Champions League again.

But as a whole I agree with your sentiments about American owners in the Premier League, they certainly don't have a good reputation, Boehly at Chelsea is a classic example of someone who hasn't a clue, spent over 1 billion on players and made them worse! But as a Liverpool fan the longer the Glazers stay at Manchester United the better!

And as for the Super League idea, I was really disappointed that FSG and John Henry were involved in that, disappointed but not surprised as most club or franchise owners are now in it for the money, and treat fans as customers.
