November 6, 200322 yr Jacque Jones and Garret Anderson are two players off the top of my head that are better then Lee out there and Matsui is pretty damn good too. Lee made huge strides though.

November 6, 200322 yr Jose Cruz Jr.? C'mon look at da playoffs ppl. These are SUPPOSED to not be playoff included. Which is why the NBA hands out there awards before the playoffs end. I think they should do all the voting the day between regular season and day 1 of the playoffs. I think that whether the voters try to or not, the playoffs sway there voting thoughts.

The votes are sent in and collected before the playoffs start. The playoffs do not sway the votes at all. They are announced after the playoffs so they will not detract from the focus of the playoffs and WS.
November 6, 200322 yr I think Crede has a good shot to pick up some Gold Gloves if he keeps playing the way he does at 3rd. Maggs played pretty solid defense this year too.
November 6, 200322 yr I am still shocked, Gold Gloves awarded. and CLee did not win one If they gave a Gold Glove to each individual OF position, then CLee would have a chance. Not so if you include all OFers for 3 Gold Gloves. You have to include Hunter every year, and Ichiro is always good, and Cameron is also pretty damn good...that's why those 3 won gold gloves. However, as Jas mentioned, Jacque Jones is pretty damn good too(though I must not see enough of Anderson and Matsui....I know Matsui made like 8 or 10 errors in LF this year....that's goddamn terrible for an OFer....and Anderson has come off as a Magglio type to me....but again, that's probably me just not talking and taking first impressions and not watching enough). And a name not mentioned enough as a good defensive OFer is Luis Matos. That guy can use the leather very well. There are obviously a few I'm missing....but I do agree that hard work gets you places. CLee played some very, very goddamn good defense this year, and then we have to hope he improves again next year too.

November 6, 200322 yr Really it is typical. Basically 3 CF's win the OF gold gloves every year. The only reason Suzuki is in RF is because of Cameron. I wish they would change it to giving the awards to the best RF, LF, and CF. That would be much more interesting to me.

BTW, Cruz had two errors all season, was at top or near the top in chances, assists, and putouts. He is solid, just made a huge blunder. I say give the guy a chance here.

Just because he doesn't let as many balls go between his legs as he used to before this season and has to make high-light reel dives on more or less routine plays, doesn't mean we can talk Gold Gloves all of the sudden.

Terrance Long, that's classic. There is good reason to not designate an award for each OF position; LF is where the weaker armed and not as good defensively play.
