Don't hate the wave, man!

Featured Replies

I know it's hard to grasp, but it's totally possible to both ENJOY the electricity it brings and kind of comraderie it promotes....AND pay attention to the actual game pitch-by-pitch at the same time. In fact, the best game I saw in person in 2003 was the 8-6 EI win against Twinckies when the crowd was absolutely crazy; I don't recall missing anything remotely important- and I always participate.

So, instead of knee-jerk hating-hating-hating, why don't y'all intractable fun-haters address the real problem: your OWN inflexible, traditionalist, low-energy cranky selves; 'baseball' doesn't have to rhyme with 'comatose'-- it's too glorious a game for that.......Just deal with it and don't spoil it for everyone else, especially for us, YOUNG people.

If anything, the WAVE == casual fans == stadium sell-outs == revenues == cash flow == higher payroll we've been asking for for so long. I find it to be truly pathetic that a lot of people would rather see a half-empty park than to have "that commie soccer wave from hell contaminating our precious fluids"

What's with all the attendance posts today?

Better that than Koch-for-Garret Anderson foolishness.

Sure the wave is fine... for mindless lemmings.

:lolhitting You are as feisty as ever Brando. What are you going to do now that your arch enemy has been vanquished?

I don't understand people's incessant need to complain about the wave. The only valid complaint is that it blocks your view of the field, but for less time than it takes some fat guy to cross in front of you to hit the john. I say, if it adds more fun to the spectating experience, then I'm all for it. When in Rome....

Just wondering Bradno, if you have season tickets? If you do, then carry on with all the attendence posts, but if not, then dont b****, if your part of the problem.

I am not a season ticket holder, but I do attend 7-12 games a year.

In the past, I never had the money (and time) to afford more. Now I am thinking about going to at least 15-20 games in 2004.

As long as we are on attendance, have there been any reports of increases in ticket prices, parking fees or such like that?

EDIT: Hey, I just noticed that I got a promotion to AA Birmingham!! :headbang

The wave is super cool at a college football game when everyone is completely s*** faced. Great stuff.

If you mean Smarmy (aka 'Big Cocksucker'; Clujer), good riddance.

No worries, this reactionary whinin' is but a passing thing.

Wave is practically an American institution, right up there with apple pie and fatuity.

Unassailable always and forever.

The wave is truly ignorant when you got drunk guys starting the wave every 5 minutes and they have not realized people actually want to watch the game...

Please, there is nothing funnier than 5 drunk guys doing the wave by themselves. Nobody says you have to join them. If the majority of the crowd follows suit, well, welcome to democracy.

I will proudly admit that I do the wave.........but only at the Beer Man. :headbang

It should be bottled.

Yes, um.....ah......the s-s-sea......of universal love and acceptance

The wave sucks, it just blocks the view of the people who actually want to watch the game, people who do the wave, just don't care about whats going on, on the field.

agree..What's the big deal of seeing the stadium throw their hands up? Who cares, sit back and watch the game..That's what you paid for...

Waves...Ha! There ain't no waves in the midwest, boys. It should be a west coast thing.

Even my 4-year-old is bored by the wave.

I love playing the on-screen games with her ( truck races, shell game, etc. ) so I can appreciate them for the family factor, but the wave is just plain annoying.

If people want to do it, fine, I guess, but I won't be joining in.

I was at the Sox, Angles game, when Frank hit 2 HR, (one walk off) and in 9th,2-2, three 21 year old guys with there shirts off wanted to start the wave. Watch the game assholes.

The wave is only good during A. A blowout,or B. A sleeper.

Or...

C. A rain Delay

You will not catch me doing the wave at USCF ... ever. Hell, I even refused to do it in St. Louis.
