November 14, 200322 yr If Miguel ever learns to hit the breaking ball and lay off the outside pitch, he'll be all right. congrats on the honor.
November 14, 200322 yr Thats great for Miguel. He definately has a long ways to go at the plate but I see him getting real good. He'll make some strides at the plate this season and I think slowly you'll see him turn into a very similar player to Irod. Miguel's defense will allow the Sox to be patient with him and he has pop in his bat and the ability to take the ball to all fields. As Walker works with him and he grows more patient and as wu83 said, starts recognizing the breaking balls, he will turn into an excellent catcher.

I think Miggy will eventually develope into a damn good all around ballplayer .... about the time he becomes FA eligible.
November 15, 200322 yr Miguel will learn. Will he ever hit. 300? Doubtful. But he will hit in the .280's someday, hit with a little power (12-18 HR a year), and throw out anyone stupid enough to test his arm. Look at it this way - he's Ron Karkovice with a nicer face and an actual ability to hit the baseball.

I think he'll hav a very similar career path and numbers to Jason Kendall of the Pirates, but his Ave. won't be as high.
November 15, 200322 yr I still think he'll be a huge asset to the Sox. Like I said, he's Karkovice with actual hitting ability. Plus, he's cheap and he's ours for another 5 years. We need not worry about him at all. For those of you who don't remember Ron Karkovice, here's a photo of him after he hit a home run to win a game against the Indians :
