November 26, 200322 yr Maybe Baseball America went with Joe Mauer, but USA Today Baseball Weekly gave its Minor League Player of the Year award to Jeremy Reed, who could be our center fielder next season. Reed beat out San Diego second baseman Josh Barfield, not Mauer, for the award, by hitting a combined .373 with an insane .453 on-base percentage at Winston-Salem and Birmingham. Kudos to Jeremy.

November 27, 200322 yr I just hope we arent setting this guy up for failure. everyone expects him to be awesome...
November 27, 200322 yr Author I don't expect him to be awesome in 2004 that's unrealistic. but I think he can be helpful in 2004 and be a very solid player in 2005 and beyond. not a big power guy, but a very solid professional hitter. that's MY hope.
November 27, 200322 yr Gotta give this kid a chance to start. But the Sox will probably trade for some outfielder who hits .240, gets paid a lot, and Jeremy will play at Charlotte and hit .380.
November 27, 200322 yr Hitting Leadoff and playing CF for your 2004 Chicago White Sox... Jeremy Reeeeeed! That would be ok with me , Rowand out there is a no go with me.
November 27, 200322 yr Reed may not be ready yet. I'd guess that he would have to have a very good spring training not to end up in AAA. Rowand will do just fine in CF in 2004, as long as he stays off dirtbikes.
November 27, 200322 yr I think Reed will be solid. At his best I see him like a healthy Darrin Erstad, which is a pretty damn good all around player. At the worse, I see him as a good defensive, good running, good obp, solid slap hitter. I think he's gonna have a solid to great career.
