He batted .287 (48-167) with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 51 games with the White Sox before being traded to Colorado on July 29 in exchange for pitcher Enemencio Pacheco and cash considerations. In 38 games with the Rockies, Alomar hit .267 (31-116) with no home runs and 12 RBI. He combined to throw out 13 of 49 (26.5 percent) attempted basestealers at the two stops. “Sandy is the perfect guy to come in and mentor our young catchers, Miguel Olivo and Josh Paul,” said Williams. “We know what type of player he is and what his presence means to a clubhouse, and he knows our pitching staff and the American League.” “In addition, it was Jerry Manuel’s desire to bring Sandy back because he has been instrumental in the development of our pitching staff. November 26, 200322 yr Let's all take it easy. We knew that Sandy Alomar Jr would be back. Hopefully his expert tutelage will help Miguel Olivo hit the curve ball and lay off the outside pitches. The Sox are proud of all the money they have to spend to put together a winner and KW's bold moves continue this off season.

The PR dept. does a lot of dumb things, but this appears to be the fault of one season ticket rep and not the whole PR staff.
