What's the deal with Ely Brown? 12th round center fielder off to a really nice start. .338 average, 11 stolen bases. Lots of walks. Lot of singles. The Chase Meidroth of center fielders? Evidently a good defender in college. The defensive stats they track for the minors seem solid. Seems fast.

He's a 24 year old with a .016 ISO back down in A-ball after two disappointing stints in high-A so incredibly unlikely to ever develop into anything, but just wanted to give a shout-out to being incredibly effective for a level: Jordan Sprinkle is 3-4 tonight with 3 stolen bases and now has a .409 OBP at Kanny with 62 steals and 8 caught stealing. With his 12-0 steal record at WS, that puts him at 74 stolen bases on the year in 345 PA. Rickey Henderson holds the modern era MLB stolen base record of 130 steals in a 656 PA season - with the same amount of PA, Sprinkle would be on pace for 140.

I just want one of these stolen base fiends (Micah Johnson, Duke Ellis, Jordan Sprinkle) to be good enough to get to the majors

It’s a bummer he could never create a stick. Still like picks like this.

Sox promoted him to Birmingham for the rest of the season, maybe they're trying to see if he can be a Terrance Gore type
