Opening day lineup? Certainly the closest we've seen.

Reds radio feed available. CHSN will be broadcasting the Spring Breakout game instead.

Anybody else think that if Paez throws a good/ solid game, that he makes the 26 man? I think there’s too much potential there to lose him.

I think he's made it already, in part due to the Vasil injury.

I agree that this looks like the probable opening day lineup.

Sox in order on ground balls top 1.

Leadoff hustle double from TJ Friedl. Nice catch and throw in from Acuna to initially hold the runner, but a groundout and single scored him.

1-0 Reds

Sox answer quick. Hays single, Pereira HR.

Paez hit his pitch count at 2.2IP, 1ER, 3H, 2BB

0 strikeouts and only 4 whiffs/50 pitches, but outs are outs

Some nice ABs to load the bases vs. Abbott.

Mune reached on an error, Beni nice piece of hitting to LF, Pereira very nice 10 pitch walk.

RBI guy Quero does RBI guy things and knocks in two. 106mph liner off a RHP reliever.

4-1 Sox

Newcomb has not had a good spring. I was skeptical of the signing. Hope I am wrong.

Benson solo shot off Newcomb made it 4-2. Chase leadoff double scored on two productive groundouts, 5-2 top 5th.

Bunt hit, single, EDLC triple makes it 5-4 in the bottom half.

They get Elly in a rundown on the next AB, but the batter replaced him at third behind the play and then scored on a pitch in the dirt. Tied 5-5.

Newcomb relieved mid-inning by A-baller Nick Altermatt who gives up a HR to Jose Trevino. 7-5 Reds.

Domiguez pitched into and then out of a jam (walk, single, K, K, walk, K) in the 6th.

Mune hit off a LHP to lead off the 8th, then he sits for a runner.

Hays single, gets subbed too. Another solid showing for him.

Productive groundout from Beni makes it 2nd and 3rd, Pereira knocks both in, 7-7 tie

Pereira has had a good game. 2-3 with a HR, 4 RBI, and a walk. The only time he didn't reach was on a 107mph liner that a nice play was made on.

I think people take spring training stats way too seriously both bad and good. But obviously would prefer to have them good. He will probably be what he has always been.

Generally speaking, the data shows that ST stats are about as predictive as regular season stats of similar sample size. So basically, it tells you something but not a lot just because nobody gets that many innings/ABs in the spring.
