But he can play up the middle competently (and I know he's got a small neg war on D too this year). Hayes and Grichuk are the same player. I think they need him this year more than the lesser of Grichuk and Hayes. If he has options, they can just call him back when needed..You keep harping on Hayes and Grichuk being the same player but glossing over that Acuna up til this point has not been a MLB player, at all. You even pointed out he has a negative WAR on D, which is where he was supposed to be great regardless. He is fine backing up SS but he can’t hit a cut to save his life and teams run on him like crazy because of it. The team has reduced his playing time to very little because of how bad he has been. I’m no huge fan of Hayes but his bat is major league quality, Grichuk has been everything you could ask for in a short period of time. There are better options than Acuna right now, if he is DFAed this team isn’t going to suffer for it.

Hayes, eh, we'll see if he ever gets healthy. Acuna has negative WAR, he's not really a backup CF defensively and I believe has an option year, send him down when Gonzo and/or Montgomery come up.Acuna is out of options, not unlike Curtis mead.
