Daubach Released!

Featured Replies

Perhaps he did, I cannot recall any big hits or RBI delivered by him.

Two moments that jump out at me.....both against the Twins.

-When Daubach hit one of the speakers in the metrodome and got a double out of it. The run he scored ended up winning the game for us.

- Last game of the sweep at the Cell (Where frank hit the walk off against Guardado) Dauber hit a cluth two run home run sometime in the middle innings.

Thats about it.

Ross Gload is better than Daubach, end of story, and cheaper.

Hey Hex Rudler, are you the anti-Rex, or what?

Come up with an original handle, will ya?

OMG its the Bizzarro Rex Hudler.

Haha, I don't know what to make of this. I bet Hex has a goatee though.

Hello Speizio.

Hello Speizio.

My name isn't Spezio, but hello.

I honestly can't see him coming here. I do believe he is still to expensive, plus he will want to start (seeing how we have Kong and Hurt).

Looks like the Yankees are interested in Scott Spiezio, D'oh!

Yankees: The New York Daily News reports that the Yankees are interested in Scott Spiezio to fill the hole left by the trade of Nick Johnson to Montreal. Spiezio "is said to be a player GM Brian Cashman is pitching to his fellow Yankee bigwigs," according to the report. The paper says that the Yankees have not negotiated with Spiezio's agent, Barry Meister, but Meister said he has spoken to Yankee officials.

From mlb.com's hotstove report

I agree with Spat.

Daubach's role was difficult and he sucked at it.

I thought he'd be great when we picked him up, but he sure did suck.

It's probably partly the way he was used, but I'd rather give a young

guy his at bats.

Daubach's lack of production I blame squarely on Jerry Manuel. He didn't use him for two months, then expects him to be sharp. I hope next season is much better for BD than 2003 was. He didn't deserve to have to go through a season like that.

I've gotten tired of seeing excuses made for players who didn't do well by saying that Manuel didn't make the best use of them. Why does JM have to be the scapegoat for everything? Also, these players are making a lot of money just to have fun. Since they all make at least $300,000 per year, they should be able to contribute to the team effort and if they don't, its their fault.

JM is the scapegoat for this guy because he consistant put up solid numbers for 4 years in Boston, then he sits on the bench here, with our team struggling offensively and needing a good LH bat in the lineup. Yep ... this was a major screw up by JM. In fact, it's a no brainer.

Well, he didn't put up solid numbers for us and since his cumulative BA is only .262 it would appear that he did so well in Boston either. It would not be one bit surprising that he falls on his face at his next team.

In any event, its really GM Kenny's fault that he was even on the team in the first place. The Sox already had more than enough players for 1B and/or DH anyways. KW really should have gone for a new pitcher with the money that he wasted on Daubach.

That's an entirely different discussion. However, BD's power numbers where at least acceptable in Boston.

I hate to tell you this, but Frank hit that homerun, too.

I over exaggerated the home run being cluth, but Daubach did hit one in that game.  Look at the box score on the left side.

He did homer that game... I didn't remember that. And Frank's first wasn't as clutch as I thought. Their HR's came in the 3rd and 4th innings, respectively.

The biggest hit I remember Daubach having In Tampa Bay (I think the very next night) where he gave us some nice 9th inning insurance with a bomb, but it wasn't enough, because Koch proceeded to allow a Carl Crawford 3-run Jimmy-Jack.
