Why would the Sox want/need him? The guy hit .208 last year and is questionable defensively. I hope that this isn't Beane's backup plan to replace Hernandez, because it would make the Hernandez trade that much worse. I really think Oakland is going to take a hit, even with their talented starting staff. The lose of Tejada, Hernandez, Foulke, Guillen, Long, and Lilly(plus a couple of PTBN) and replacing them with Kotsay, Kielty, and Barrett so far, is a significant decrease for Oakland.

I agree. They have a great rotation, but you have to score in the AL.

He's arbitration elgible. The A's hav until Dec. 20 to negotiate a deal with him. That scared a lot of teams off and his poor numbers this year. Expos had to move a contract so they could sign Jurassic Carl.
