LMAO...I'm not surprised at all about PK.  But Maggs?

That's why anytime that commercial about Maggs hitting behind a runner with guys on base came on, I would laugh my ass off.

Yes interesting that Maggs leads Kong, who'd a thunk.

Maggs has always always been the Sox leader of GIDP or at least since 2000 and maybe before that until PK gave him a run (get it, run) for the money in 2003

I have always hated to see Mags at bat with 1 out and a runner at 1st

You pretty much predicted it right every time when we say the games last year.

It doesnt help that Frank is in front of Maggs.

I cant even count how many times Frank gets to first and Maggs proceeds to GIDP.

I want to see where Carlos Lee fits into that list. My guess is he is pretty high as well.

C Lee has grounded into 57 double plays from 00-03. Oddly enough, he only had 5 in the 2002 season.

Any idea where that 57 ranks in the AL?

That is a lot less than the 84,83 by our guys and the 80 by Jeff Bagwell, so I imagine not too high, but it doesn't say on there.

Yes yes, i had a talk with Carlos in 2002 telling him that he had to make a one webgem a week and only hit into 5 double plays. Then i forgot to tell him about last year.

I dont know, i think its just the White Sox way of raging the hell out of the fans, give some hope, and then ruin it all by hitting the 6-4-3. Everyone seems to do it, and Mags and Kong lead the way.

I don't think it is Frank's fault

Mags hits the ball so hard and given the position of the infielders with a runner at 1st, it just happens - that is my theory

No, he constantly tries to pull that outside pitch..........

......right to the SS.

ok, I will change my theory to yours --

actually I knew mine wasn't totally right and someone would correct me!

thanks!

:headbang :cheers :cheers

Ahhh let's just say we're both right and drink to many less GIDP's this YR!!!!

:cheers  :cheers  :cheers  :drink  :drink

well of course

if you drink every time we hit into a double play, you'll be passed out by the 5th inning every game!

You are both right..... guys that hit the ball hard and don't have tremendous speed hit into more DP's. And trying to pull the wrong pitches definitely adds to it, especially if the hitter is good enough to still hit the outside pitch hard.

You guys should lighten up on Konerko. I'll have you know he spent 6 weeks this offseason at the "Cecil Fielder Speed Camp."

Maybe once you see his new wheels, you'll leave the poor guy alone. He actually looks like he's moving now when he runs.

The 2004 White Sox new slogan - "We No Longer Have Moss Growing On Our Baserunners."

Carlos must have been hitting behind Clayton that year.

This is from February 5, so it's pretty old and may have been talked about before, but Jayson Stark did the leaders for the 2000's. If you go down about three quarters of the way, it has the "Lonely at the Bottom"

Most GIDPs -- Paul Konerko 84, Magglio Ordonez 83 (NL leader -- Jeff Bagwell, 80)

That's a nice stat to know. The two most GIDPingest players in the 90s are both on our team.

How much of that is on the Big Hurt's shoulders? What about Manual's? Do you guys think it'll change? All those GIDP's definitely hurt the Sox a ton.

I hope Konerko learned to bunt this winter.

another reminder of why we need guys like Willie Harris, Rowand and Jeremy Reed to step up and break up the 4 X 100 relay team in the middle of the batting order.
