All sports talk radio in Chicago has been about:

Nah, how about a Jaime Navarro or Todd Ritchie :)

Even better!

Just trying to get the Braves connection in there.

The '83 Sox were the first team in Chicago to top 2 million in paid attendance.  Let's see here ... dominant division champion and record attendance.  Is there a correlation here?  Based on the way JR has run this club, apparently not.

Oh, no, you don't remember??? The fans showed up in droves, THEN the Sox were able to pick up Julio Cruz and the rest is history!!!!

you dont make a demand on the fans to show up and then we will fix the product...thats ass backwards...

:headbang

I do not get it....if you want everyone to talk about the Sox, show your ass at the ball park....if you spend, Jerry will spend and KW will build a winner....it is really that simple

What??????????!!!!!!!!! :fyou

Not that the Sox have done anything to warrant talking, but enough's enough.

It's gonna be a looooooong 6 weeks of spring training.  The season can't start soon enough.

You've got to stop trying to kill the messenger with these threads about the sports media in Chicago. There is only 1 baseball team in Chicago worth covering right now - and it ain't the Sox. That is just a simple fact. Don't blame the media if Sox management and players can't do anything right. :nono

Get it?

I am not going to a restaurant that is charging me for steak, serving me hamburger, and saying only if more people show up they promise to serve steak.

Over and over again Sox fans have demonstrated they will support a winner.

I was actually happy today when the sportsradio hosts discussed NASCAR for a half hour, and I could care less about NASCAR. Anything was better than all this Cubs crap.

And as I type this, the local sportsradio show has Kerry Wood on as a guest.

I can't take much more of this. :banghead :banghead

If you say it enough times....you still won't believe it, Tex.

The 70's are over.

Check out 2000 attendance.

Subtract freebies/half price s*** that pad the numbers.

Check out TV and radio ratings and merch sales.

That's what I thought.

My point in all of this is that because of the current Sox ownership, the "70's are over" as you put it. Let's see... when did JR and EE buy the team? Wasn't it prior to the 1980 season. Coincidence? I think not.

These guys have alienated players and fans alike for 24 years now and they cannnot understand why the ballpark is not full? They actually have to be imbeciles to not be able to make the connection.
