March 31, 200422 yr I guess it's possible, but why would KC do that when they feel they have a legitmate chance at the division. In order for that even being a possibility, they will need Beltran. Although they need pitching, and this could help them out.

I dislike Steinbrenner so much that it is no longer funny. But I don't think he does that. He signed Lofton to a 2-year deal and IIRC, Lofton is playing CF, with Williams DHing.

He also listed his source, so that speaks to the validity level of the rumor. In this case, you take it with a grain of salt, but can still discuss the pros and cons.

He purposefully prefaced it as a rumor. People speculate on rumors here all of the time. There is no need to be an asshole about something that goes on all of the time here.

Now, if they are out of the race come July then I see them shipping him out of KC.
