April 12, 200421 yr Yeah, I hope we get Kipper back, but I wouldn't be against getting Benson. Benson would be our fourth or fifth starter, so he'd have a lot of pressure taken off. He also has some nice stuff - he's got a pretty good slider, a nice pitch that runs away from lefties (two-seamer?). Does he have a change? Tom Goodwin blows. Unless the Pirates pick up a chunk of Benson's salary, I want no part of him.

April 12, 200421 yr Author Unless the Pirates pick up a chunk of Benson's salary, I want no part of him. What is he making? Isn't it near 8 or 9 million? I think Pitt would take on his salary if we gave them Rauch and Stewart, or perhaps someone else. I guess it's all based upon opinion - if you think Benson still has it, then you pull the trigger. If you don't and you don't want to give up on Rauch/Stewart, then you stay with what you have. I guess this is all dependent upon how our rotation is doing by mid-July. Maddux hits the leadoff man, and Wilson hits one to the warning track for a double. Runners on second and third, nobody out!

With runner at 2nd and 3rd, no outs, Maddux starts feeding batting practice hanging sliders to this no-hitting, no-fielding scumbag and instead of spraying a drive somewhere, Stynes pops it up, which screws up their entire inning because automatic out Benson is hitting next..... Should be 6-2 Pirates.
