I remember quite well in a game against the Twins that we lost early last year that someone got a hit to RF, a little blooper that was obviously going to fall in, and Jimenez only got to 2B(or maybe he was on 2B and only got to 3B...it was one of the two). He is a s***ty baserunner, and that's being kind.

There is no question he's made a few blunders last year (drop pop, bare-handing a DP ball, Minnesota thing), but EVERYONE makes them. Remember Aaron Rowand not tagging up from 2nd with no outs on a warning track FO to CF by Olivo while down by a run against SD? Lost the game. How about Frank Thomas not paying attention on the pads and killing the rally in a crucial loss to Boston last Augustt? Carlos Lee getting picked off more than I could remember pre-2003? Uribe has already dropped a pop and been picked off twice.

I've seen him maybe 10 or 12 times while with KC and he's looked MUCH better defensively and baserunning-wise. Still unspectacular, but solid.

He outplayed Robbie since we acquired him, and this year Jimbo is dwarfing Willie Harris.

DJ is 0-2 so far against Wood, but as usual, both outs were SMOKED - two line outs.

Make that 3 line-outs in 3 atbats off Wood. Wow, DJ and Casey's outs are better than some people's hits.

Speaking of that momo;....Reds are hitting the ball on the botton and have nothing to show for it. Damn Kubbies.

If anyone was watching the Cubs-Reds game on WGN, Jimenez just showed me yet another reason why I'm glad he's gone. Derrek Lee hit an easy ground ball to 2nd. So what does Jimenez do; instead of going to his right to field it, he broke to the left. Result: An RBI single for Lee and a 2-0 lead for the Cubs.

The man has unbelievable talent, but he falls asleep too many times.

They were saying the same thing about Aramis Ramirez and the guy is absolutely mashing, and his defense is no longer a problem either.

People grow up, they mature, they figure things out. Besides that play, Jimenez made a good play Bones mentioned, drew a key walk in the 9th after battling Wood with 2 strikes on him -- and I already mentioned the 3 line-drives he smoked. That's a hellava day and yesterday was every bit as good.

Sox are in no position to pass up on players just because they may be damaged goods attitude-wise -- they have a low payroll, remember?

Remember how quickly we have up on Lollygagger Lofton? Giant and Cub fans can tell you that without him, they wouldn't sniff NLCS, let alone WS in 2002 and 2003 respectively.

Uribe, Spivey.....There are many examples like that.

When you have a 6'5" behemoth with a slick glove catching everything you throw his way, your defense would improve too.

Back to Jimenez, he almost botched today's game again. Easy DP grounder, he screwed up the throw and allowed the tying run to reach 1st. He was lucky his teammates bailed him out.

No way.

I've seen Ramirez play last year with Pirates and he was terrible, couldn't make a routine play, couldn't make a tough play......They got through to him, improved his mechanics, his confidence went up and now his throws are on the money for the most part -- Augie Ojeda would catch them, let alone D-Lee.

As contrasted with that scumbag Reds trotted out there today -- gets eaten up alive by Sammy's grounder, didn't cover 3rd on Alou's blooper and couldn't throw Sammy out at home.

Yet another example of Jimenez and his mental lapses:

Jimenez on 1st with a walk when Barry Larkin flies out to Sosa. Not a liner, not a towering shot, but a lazy fly to right. Yet because D'Angelo isn't paying attention and is halfway around to 3rd, Sosa has an easy double play by throwing to Lee. D'Angelo can't use the excuse of 2 outs because he was the leadoff hitter in the game.

Bundles of physical talent negated by brain-dead lapses. Further proof that he wouldn't work for the Sox.

Yeah, or so they tell me. Not sure if I buy it; give me a Jimenez over an Ozzie any damn game day of the week.

Jimenez had one horrendeous month (June) and that overshadowed the 4 good months (Sep-May with ST) he had as a Sox.

DJ is unfairly associated with the 1st half collapse.  Guess what? Konerko wasn't hitting.  Thomas was just beginning to heat up.  Magglio had an ordinary year by his standards.  Koch, White, Wright, Riod, Daubach, Rowand, Crede and even Gordon -- they were all struggling well into June.

To put it simply:  had Jimenez stayed and Robbie was never traded for, Sox would have been in the playoffs.

You like playoffs?

and so true...

Brando, how about going to a Reds forum to sing your praises about D'An go away Jimenez...I am sure they'd love to talk about how they "stole him" from us with you...

My best D'Angelo memory is when he made a jackass of himself at a AAA game here in Louisville after every other Knights player signed autographs for a handful of Sox fans at the game and D'Angelo acted as if he couldn't understand English and kept walking...Then he got one of these... :fyou

Speaking of the Cubs game, did you see that pitch they rung up Larue on. That was biggest load of s*** I've ever seen.

This has been some of the worst umpiring I've seen.

Of course keeping in mind that this was the same crew that worked the Sox-Royals game earlier in the week (Jose being called out at 2nd at the Sox home opener), I'm not surprised.

When you can't refute s***, what's a girl to do but to eye-roll?

Welcome to Ee-k-nor.

There is nothing to refute when the comments being made are obviously wrong.

You may be the only D'Angelo Jimenez fan on this board, look around.

And if you want me to refute, here goes:

1) He is a terrible defender with less range than Frank Thomas has at first base.

2) He is the dumbest baserunner in the history of baseball and he cost us several times last season with his bonehead decisions and lackluster effort.

3) His attitude is worse than negative, in fact it encourages and feeds the phenomenon known as corpseball.

4) His body language pretty much sums up everything: he doesn't give a s*** about the game.

Yeah, it's pathetic, really.

Red rung up with bases loaded on the same exact pitch Walker receives a walk and prolonges the inning for Patterson to come through with a 2-run hit with 2 outs.

This thread is pretty pointless..Anybody who saw this guy last year saw that he was a lazy,  moody,  arrogant piece of s***.  I could run the bases better than he did last year.  I could care less what he's doing with the Reds.  Let him hit .400.  I'm glad we got rid of that piece of s***.

Thank you my friend, thank you.

I'll agree here too.
