From what I understand, that is correct, get used to it when the game is on WCIU

Canadian broadcasts are not cleared for MLB direct TV or internet packages. So if the Sox play the Jays on WCIU, you can't see it out of market. However, if they play anyone else on WCIU, you can see the other team's telecast.

For those of you not in the Chicago area that do not get WCIU, words can't explain how horrible this station is. The video feed from this station sucks. It is like they are putting a tinted window over my television screen.

I know, I know... it is better than nothing, but even as a person who gets WCIU, I too dread when the games are on there.

This sucks, can't see the Sox game.

 

Why can't they dump WCIU.

There was just a commercial on WCIU saying that if you have satellite TV, that Sox games on WCIU are only available on DirecTV.

Because the contract they they have gives "X" amount of games to each channel. Again, Tribune company owns WCIU and WGN, so these games would be on WGN if they weren't in bed with everyone's favorite the WB.

 

EDIT: Tribune with WGN leases the games to the U, sorry about the confusion.
