Rosenthal on Beltran

Featured Replies

The Rangers remain perhaps the most logical trading partner for the Royals -- they could offer third baseman Hank Blalock, second baseman Michael Young and a minor leaguer. The White Sox are another possible fit, but they would create other holes if they traded third baseman Joe Crede and second baseman Willie Harris or D'Angelo Jimenez.

No chance in HELL I'd trade Crede, but If Harris has a monster Spring, maybe we could throw in a pitching prospect, Sanders or Malone, or something, or Hummel could play third, Harris and Hummel for Beltran? Would you do it?

If KW trades Crede he should be hanged

harris and hummell for beltran???...of course..who wouldnt...but will KC??..im sure someone will give them a better deal..

imo KC will want young pitching for beltran and we got plenty of that..im guessing they'd want honel and malone..or maybe rauch and one of those two...now would you give up that???

no no no to all those proposed trades

we keep crede, we keep rauch, we keep honel

hell we even keep malone (I think)

Beltran would be a good add but at what cost with Joe B in the wings and Aaron going to be just fine?

The right cost without compromising our future, do it - but without compromsiing ourselves and weakening ourselves elsewhere because it isnl;ty exactly that we are dead and have no future at cf

To get Beltran you better be willing to move Rauch, Wright, or Honel and probably two position prospects.

I am not willing, so then, I don't want Beltran.

ditto, not at the asking price. He could come cheap at the All-Star break. (not cheap, but cheaper

Pass the weed, Rosenthal, that must be some strong s*** you're smoking.

I'd have to agree with you 100% on this. I would never even think of trading Crede in this offseason after what I saw him do in the last month and a half of the season. I would also agree with the fact if KW decides to trade him, he should be hung. I would agree with the Hummel/Harris trade for Beltran. We could ensure then that Valentin would be at short and Jiminez would be at second. I could live with that trade. If it was done, I think we would stick Beltran in left and bench Lee. That is just my opinion.

I don't like the idea of trading top prospects to ANY team....let alone a division foe. (for this next sentence, you'll have to bear with me) I'd hate to see Dan Wright starting game 7 of the World Series and Joe Crede hitting a walk-off homer that scores Willie Harris with the winning pitcher of the game being David Sanders and Edwin Almonte getting a hold....FOR THE ROYALS, that is.

If we could get him for Hummel and two pitching prospects(I'd even consider Malone)....I'd do it. And he makes $6 mill this year....trade Lee, Ginter, Hummel, and Malone while taking on a million or two for Beltran....then Rowand moves over to LF and is still given a shot to start daily.

I finally got back on here (my old house I couldn't) how much does Beltran make? The Sox could also look to get Shannon overpaid Stewart before the deadline because Toronto will try to move him then. His value should be limited by then and I think that would make a good playoff run type move.

Beltran will make 6 mil this season, and should make 8-9 next season. That's a lot of cheese...

I'd wait it out as long as possible, the Blue Jays don't have a snowballs chance in hell of contending and Stewart is a free agent at the end of this year(Richardi has said he doesn't fit into long term plans) a.k.a. see ya later Shannon. When the price is right flip him some appropriate pitching prospects(not too good) Richardi likes trading for youth, good or not. Same price as Beltran for this year and way easier to get.

I like your thinking Baggs

Don't act all interested, simply make them an offer that the Sox are willing to make, then see what happens.

I'd do something including Rowand. He's got to be part of the offer, imo, since Beltran will be replacing him and we don't need to hold onto him.

I'd say Rowand and a pitching prospect or Rowand, Harris, and Stewart.

Well I only mentioned Harris/Hummel because the article said they wanted a 2nd and 3rd base prospect, Hummel can play 3rd, Harris plays second. A picthing prospect may just sweeten the deal

The only problem with this idea is that Shannon Stewart sucks.

When they say a 2nd and 3rd base prospect, they mean top-level prospects. Like Crede and Hummel, that's how much they want, too bad there not gonna get it.

Don't we have another kid in the minors that's a pretty good 3B prospect.... Schnurstein, or something like that? How about him and Hummel or Harris? That might get it done if that 3B-man is a god enough prospect.
