maggsmaggs
Not to be mean to Cotts, but he is future is a starter, let him go to AAA and get some innings in. Wunsch is a solid lefty and now that Cotts mind has been effected, he needs to regroup in Charlotte. Ever since that Phelps homer, to the bad Minny start and now, he has lost tons of confidence. Let him go back to AAA and build it back up. Any thoughts?
hammerhead johnson
I agree. I like Cotts, but he needs to work on a new pitch or two, sort of like what Schoeneweis did in Spring Training.

I hope I'm not upsetting anybody (and I know I haven't pitched on a major league mound) but I think Cotts isn't ready yet and major leaguers are just catching up to him real fast right now. If he's projected as a starter, then yeah, maybe a stint in Charlotte to get his innings in and work on some other pitches is probably the best idea. If he's going to be a situational lefty, then I don't see any reason to demote him, since he's been doing a pretty solid job in that role so far. Chisoxfn
You guys are all nuts. Cotts has struggled three times and all three times it just happened to cost the team the game. Despite that he has at times been one of the best relievers and no one is going to tell me that Wunsch did a better job in his stint up here. Cotts is much more versatile then Wunsch, is a better pitcher at this point, and has way more upside. However, if they wnat to make Cotts a 5th starter, then maybe they should option him down and let him pick up innings there and call him back up. I don't know if the Sox want to waste an option though.

AngelasDaddy0427
I agree. Ozzie has already killed his confidence and I don't want to lose any more games waiting for him to get it back. This is why Ozzie wanted to keep him in the pen!

CWSGuy406
No way, no way, no freakin' way. Cotts might have done poorly last night, but when Wunsch was up here, he couldn't get our lefties... He's a lefty specialist and he couldn't even get out the lefties! Cotts is way better, IMO, than Wunsch because: a.) He can eat a lot of innings out of the bullpen, he can go three or four innings. and b.) He can get out lefties as well as righties. Now, that didnt happen last night, nor the past two weeks or so, but earlier in the year Cotts bailed us out a ton of times. Neal's problem, as most of us can see, is that he gets caught leaving that damn changeup - up in the zone. Not good. His fastball really, really fools hitters, he ought to use that more, and only use his changeup down - and - away, and throw in his breaking ball down in the zone as well. That being said, the ump wasn't giving anything on the outside corner, actually, it was more like two inches onto the plate he wasn't giving... And he was extending the inside corner about four inches, so he had a wierd strike zone going...
