Nike $ may make up for less contract $...?

Did anyone hear that Nike has approached Kobe about DOUBLING his current contract with them ($45 million) if he signs with NY for less $$..??

Yes that's been confirmed. Unless Los Angeles will accept a sign and trade deal, or Kobe signs for the mid level excpetion, he ain't goin to play for the Knicks. He's making $45 million from Nike, so this would be doubled to $90 million. I'll see if I can find a link.

From the New York Post,

What if Kobe should defect to the Knicks? Nike, say sources, is prepared to double his $45 million contact should he be declared not guilty and winds up playing in New York.

I don't know why they are still sponsoring him personally. Guess there aren't many replacements. Wasn't he sponsored by McDonalds, but they pulled the plug on him? :o

Just think of where that $45 million could go instead of to Kobe's lawyers. :o

Corporate deals are always in the backroom.

When I was in High School, some of the big program HS coaches had personal shoe contracts. Guess where there kids signed with? Yep, College programs with the same shoe program.

Too bad Nike didn't want him as a supervisor for their child labor camp in Malaysia.
