Biggest Win of the Year

Featured Replies

These are the games that gets everybody together, they mesh after a great ungly win. This might jump start us to a streak, then we get Maggs back and when the pitching gets through the dead arm period. We will get that big run.

Gaining a game on the Twins is also a good thing. I hope this game really fueled our guys, and they're ready to compete at home and take on the Cubs after the Indians leave.

i think an important game is gonna be the last game of the clev. series with rauch pitching, if we win thatd be huge goin into the weekend games.

Hell, tomorrow's game is important, too.

I was almost crying when they got the homer off of Marte :crying

but then they got it all back :snr

The reason that it was the biggest win of the year is that it would have been the worst loss of the year.

Can you imagine.. this weekend... Sox (1st place) versus Cubs (1st place)

There might be MORE murders outside Wrigley.

Where is this Wrigley place you speak of?

It's an amusement park freak show 8 miles north of a baseball stadium.

Emotionally this is quite the stretch

Indians - Cubs - Twins

Good test of playoff type atmosphere.

No way this is the biggest win of the year.

It would have been by far the biggest LOSS of the year though.

I just can't say it was a big win when they were up 8-0 and gave up the lead.

The starting pitching has to work hard if they want to go deep into a game. I don’t know what happened with Loaiza last night that made him give up so many runs when he was doing so good in the first 4 innings. It reminded me of Garland who had trouble after the 5th.

One thing to our advantage over the Cubs series is the fact that you keep hearing the Cubs talking about how these are just more games, whereas Ozzie and crew look at them like going to battle. The Cubs, and their fans, are so concerned with playing the bigger person role, and not getting into the whole Sox vs. Cubs menatlity, that it could hurt them. Dusty doesn't hate the Sox, he has no reason to. Ozzie, who was a lifetime Sox player (with a few years removed, but always a Sox), knows very, very, very well the rivalry, and battled it out on the field, and saw it first hand in the papers. I have a feeling that our hatred of the Cubs is echoed in the clubhouse on the South Side, and I think that could be very powerful. In a fight, the winner will often times be the one who wants it most. Same can be said here, I think we might want it more, for more reasons. That is our main (if not only) advantage. I am not expecting great things this weekend, or next, and I am fearing the worst, but I would not be surprised to see us come out fighting, and kicking some pretty impressive butt.

The cubs will have the same mentality as the sox going into the series. The cubs just wanna come out looking better in the public's eyes than the sox. The cbus wanna be all high and mighty saying it's just another game....coverup.

the starting staff needs to regroup -- and quickly

8 against the Expos.

17 against the Expos.

coughing up an 8-0 lead.

it's a bit alarming because this ain't the Yankees and Red Sox we're playing.

Wasn’t Ozzie the bat boy when Baker was coaching over in South America?

it comes and goes.

The staff struggled early on in the season, IIRC. Then it made a nice recovery. Hopefully it can return to its better form!

The Indians have the best offense in baseball.

However, I can't make an excuse for the Expos disaster. Just that they played well and we played like s***.
