Sox vs. Cubs draws record ratings

By Teddy Greenstein

Tribune staff reporter

If it seemed as though nearly everyone you know was watching baseball this weekend, you were not hallucinating.

WGN-Ch. 9's broadcasts of the Cubs-White Sox series garnered the network's highest ratings ever for a "Red Line" series.

Friday's telecast drew a 13.1 rating and a 30 share. Sunday's picked up 13.4 with a 30 share.

Fox Sports Net's Saturday telecast, meanwhile, drew a 9.2/22.

Each local ratings point represents nearly 34,000 households.

White Sox ratings on WGN are up 39 percent from May 2003 to May 2004, the team's highest ratings in 10 years.

The Cubs are up 23 percent during the same span, the team's highest ratings in 13 years.
