7/5 Games

Does anyone know why they're not letting Gio go deeper in games?  He's only gone 9 innings in 4 games (3 starts), and I'd think he's about ready to be able to go 6 or 7 innings as long as he keeps pitching like he has been.  Also, I just want to point out that Gio has a K/BB ratio of 18/1 in 9 innings.  That's pretty awesome! :headbang

He missed sometime after being kicked off of his HS team. Plus his arm probably isn't that stretched out as this will be by far the longest season of his short career. The kid is 18 and they are exersizing caution. No biggie.

Yeah, I guess that's one long season for him, considering he probably started in Feb./March and wont be done until August, so it's a good idea that we taking it slow w/ him. I knew he missed time after being suspended from his H.S. team, but from what I read, he only missed a game or two and kept pitching after he was kicked off, so that's why I thought he should be pitching longer in games. But, that makes perfect sense that they'd take it slow w/ him since this will probably be the longest season of his career.
