DABearSoX
so i read that all the yankees players are calling the unit to recruit him. if you were to call him what would you say....I would tell him "Randy, would you rather goto a team that is thorn in the side of the MLB where winning is based on how much money you spend rather then the heart you put in it or would you rather join a team where you would captivate a whole city, rejuvinate a side of town to utmost proportions, and break a streak of championshiplessness thats has stood for 87 years (not 88)....." Steff
Good grief.. so George spends $$.. he has it.. why not? At least he is spending it on the players and not hording it away under the bed or something. The Yankees as a company are rich.. thus they spend like they are. What's the problem..? Wedge
It's interesting to note that the Yankees teams that were built from their farm system were the ones that won. The teams that have since been built by free agency and ridiculous trades that are basically all-star teams, just don't have the same heart that those farm teams had. Gene Honda Civic
If they are calling, it's just to "talk baseball" -- Just like Kobe Bryant said last night on sportscenter, he only called coach K to "talk basketball", not recruit him for the Lakers head coaching job. -- rolleyeyes.gif

Notihng at all really, it'll still be a sad day when RJ's traded there. Then again, will RJ going to NY hurt attendance at the Cell? Most probably, is this really a problem? not if you're the Yankees.

IlliniKrush
I say market available and not "money available" because Steinbrenner utilizes the market very well and does spend money, 2 things you can't punish him for. And because a big market doesn't guarantee a large revenue stream.
BobDylan
I would say, "Randy, if you want to be with a bunch of money hungry assholes go to the Yankees. If you want to be apreciated by the entire organization and fan base, come to the White Sox." I wouldn't let him reply though. I'd hang up and let him think about it. Their payroll is $186 mill. That's $156 mill over the lowest, which is the Brewers. Someone who is not as lazy as me can figure it out. winninguglyin83
Colangelo still has the power to stop this by refusing to send johnson to the Yankees. and the David Wells contract fiasco 2 years ago should be all the motivation he needs.
