July 20, 200421 yr Gammons: Several GMs insist that now that the Mariners have been unable to move Bret Boone because of his 2005 vesting option for $8.5 million that they may release him and risk a huge grievance. If that's the case, someone is going to get a big-time winner for the stretch. Someone like the Yankees.
July 20, 200421 yr Yes, the Yankees line-up is grossly overpaid and overrated.... ....but this belongs in the Sportsbar.

They would have All-Stars at literally every position. I sure hope that this is not true and he hates the yankees and wants to go somewhere else.

I doubt he would decline even if he didn't like them because he is getting older and most likely wants a ring.
July 21, 200421 yr Lofton will never keep up that avg once he gets more at bats It's a proven fact that when Lofton has a reason to play, he plays his ass off. Just to make this point clearer, last year when he was traded to the Cubs, he hit .327 down the stretch to go along with an ObP of over .380. I have no doubt in my mind that Lofton finishes around .290-.300. Another thing regarding the Cubs...one of the main reasons their offense has not clicked at all this year is due to them not having Lofton setting the tables for them. If they had Lofton at the top of that lineup, they could very easily be in first. They don't, so they're not. It IS kind of surprising to see that they do not have a .300 hitter in their lineup though. That's down right goofy.

I know lots of Yankees are hitting badly, but you gotta look deeper than that.
