July 22, 200421 yr From Thursday's Southtown: Jon Garland found himself just 8 outs for writing a substantial check Wednesday night. Substantial to the tune of $75,000. He and Mark Buehrle made a "little personal bet" before the season started, stipulating the first one to pitch a no-hitter would take all. "To be honest, I would have been happy to write that check out" Garland said. "That's a bet I would like to lose. As long as I was there to see it happen, I wouldn't have minded at all."
July 22, 200421 yr wow this is freakin great....just a little 75,000 wager...hahaha like to see a little friendly betting as long as it doesn't hinder the mindset
July 22, 200421 yr $75,000...that's it?? geez cheap asses..LoL Man that would be a good wager to win.
July 22, 200421 yr damn, I wish i could write a 75K check..... that's awesome though. Now if Jon could be more Jon than Judy the rest of the year and pitch like he can. Fisk where are you!!??
July 22, 200421 yr I wonder if Fisk would consider coming in to work with the catchers and see if he can't improve them? Don't know how much it would help anyway but one never knows.
July 22, 200421 yr damn, I wish i could write a 75K check..... Of course you can . . . . . . having it clear may be another issue
July 22, 200421 yr I wonder if Fisk would consider coming in to work with the catchers and see if he can't improve them? Not under the current ownership.

Being a great player doesn't automatically make a person a great coach. I think that the players that struggled to stay in the majors with less God given talent become better students of the game and can be of more help to players. I am a big Fisk fan and wish he was on better terms with the Sox organization.
July 22, 200421 yr I know Fisk hates JR but he did show up this year and said he did it for Ozzie alone. I wouldn't think Fisk would because of JR but Ozzie seems to have an effect on people.

He will become more of a Jon if he can stop getting himself into the "big inning" where he seems to lose composure. Anyways, $75k is, I'm sure, more than a lot here make in a year. Perhaps he could still write that check, but for fans.
July 22, 200421 yr Damn that would have been sweet for Buehrle. Hopefully he'll pitch his next outing like this one but better.
July 22, 200421 yr Damn that would have been sweet for Buehrle. Hopefully he'll pitch his next outing like this one but better. Definitely, especially since it's against the Twins at home. It would be the ultimate way to send another message to those punks...especially Torri Hunter (I can't stand the guy).
July 22, 200421 yr Buehrle has owned the Twins. He needs to just keep doing what he does. Especailly his friend, Jacque Jones..

You watch this guy pitch and you're left wondering if and when he's going to put it all together and be the stud you know he can be.

Is that allowed? Just asking because of the big fuss the NFL threw over Vermeil giving Morten Anderson a bottle of his family's wine (est. $500) for making a game winning FG
