July 22, 200421 yr Author What should you do? I usually reboot the computer and ask one of my computer savvy people down at school what the hell is going on Rebooting is always a good first thing to do. Many many things are fixed by that.
July 22, 200421 yr I do the "ctrl+alt+delete" thing to see if any programs that are currently running are not responding and end them before doing anything else. If that does nothing, I reboot.

I do this and if I can't find anything there I do the reboot thing. I refuse to ever call support again. Both times I did, I figured it out before they did.

That's why tech support tells you to totally shut down. That gives them time to research, ask a buddy, post to a user group, all the while seeming intelligent. I know, I was one.

Don't you just love how many of these technical support companies advertize great customer service, yet there are so many complaints about customer service from them!!!
July 22, 200421 yr I say take the f***a and sling it out of a window if it causes too many problems...but thats just me.

After getting 'disconnected' several times amongst other things, I had it with tech support (and I am a tech support person too - applications engineering, technically, for electronic components).
July 22, 200421 yr I say take the f***a and sling it out of a window if it causes too many problems...but thats just me. LMAO! I came so close to doing that the other day with my work 'puter. I'm on the 8th floor too so the splat would have been sweet.

Can you imagine the look on your co workers faces if they saw that?? I would bust up laughing... promptly getting fired afterwards but hell. Joke um if they can't take a f***.
July 22, 200421 yr What's funny is how many people buy a new computer to fix their old computer "problems"

July 22, 200421 yr Author That's 221%!! I saw the survey on CNBC. I am guessing you could reply to more than one answer?
July 22, 200421 yr I'm surprised that 100% do not reboot. It's the very first solution. And it should be a cold reboot, not just a restart.
