Kenny Williams commented after the Twins signed him and basically said that the Sox couldn't offer more at this point. Some people got on him for those comments, but that's just the way it is.

 

Besides, while it would have been nice to add Kenny to fill our #5 hole, I think we've got enough as it is to be more than competitive this season (assuming, of course, our guys come though and play the way we know they're capable of).

The twins are using the insurance money they are getting from milton being out to pay for rogers... so there owner isnt really dishing out any of his own money....

yeah i agree, no matter what the sox may have come up with, rogers would still not have sign with the sox.

And baggs said it before....that is truly a sad thing(that Borass won't let his players sign with or stay in Chicago very long)....because if so, we could have an OF of Borchard/Lee( :fyou Lee backers! ), Beltran and Ordonez from left to right or right to left(it has to be left to right if Lee is in there). That OF would be THE best in baseball.

It would have been nice to borrow another veteran for a year though..instead of our 4th and 5th spots still undecided..but rogers and bore-ass can get their ass kicked on the twins

Ya, only by 500k though. I think it just got to the point that KW wasn't pleaed with Boras's offer and since the two sides (Mainly JR and Boras don't see eye to eye) nothing was going to get done.

It would have been nice to add Rogers, just to have another lefty to throw at the Twins. However, I'd be afraid he'd revert back to his 2001 form when he had an ERA of about 6.00. I like our staff as it is.

Rogers is an old, groundball pitcher now throwing for a team that plays on concrete. I don't care how good the Twins defense is, Rogers is due to throw a LOT of pitches. By August, his ERA will be hovering around 5.20, and Johan Santana will have taken his spot in the rotation.

Johan Santana is a very underrated player; I mean, for the few games he was in in winning situations, he had 8 wins last uear. He is a great pplayer, and I would definetley choose him over Rogers if I were the Twin's.
