October 16, 200421 yr In case anyone else hasnt heard this yet.. ESPN is reporting Drew Brees to the Bears is almost a done deal.. Thats all I know right now, ill post more when I get more info..
October 16, 200421 yr We were talking about this on the Purdue football board, but I don't think anyone thought it'd go through so quickly. I take it they didn't say who the Bears would be giving up? Unless the Bears gave up too much, I'm happy
October 16, 200421 yr That is some crazy s*** right there. Bad move if true, IMO. This is a building year...not a year you should try and go for it. Save all the draft picks you can for next year and go with Quinn and Hutchinson this year at QB.
October 16, 200421 yr Author I dont see the need to trade TOO much for Brees because Grossman will be back next year and then what happens to Brees? Who knows, maybe they are hoping hell do good so they can trade him in the offseason if his stock is high
October 16, 200421 yr Who knows, maybe they are hoping hell do good so they can trade him in the offseason if his stock is high he's having his best year yet (which isn't saying a ton), so maybe that's the plan
October 16, 200421 yr It doesn't really make sense at all. By the time Brees learned the offense the season would be over. And then they'd have Grossman back next year. The Chargers are actually accomplishing things, they should just wait til the off-season. I don't buy it.
October 16, 200421 yr Author It was reported on ESPN.. so I dunno, I dont think they would make it up
October 16, 200421 yr It was reported on ESPN.. so I dunno, I dont think they would make it up was it peter gammons?
October 16, 200421 yr Seems kind of a waste but remember in most cases a torn ACL is a 2 year injury. It takes a 2nd year to heal mentally and have confidence in your knee being ok. Maybe the Bears are looking at it like that and want Drew for next season in case Rex isnt fully healed. Just my thought.
October 16, 200421 yr It better not involve the first round pick in the 2005 draft or someone will pay!!! :fyou
October 16, 200421 yr I seriously doubt the Bears would have to give a 1st round pick for Drew Brees. I would think more like a 3rd if even that good.
October 16, 200421 yr Brees is in the final year of his contract, so the idea that the Bears would trade him at the end of the season is out the window.
October 16, 200421 yr We want Michael Turner too... but then again that would make us NIU fans happy.
October 16, 200421 yr I seriously doubt the Bears would have to give a 1st round pick for Drew Brees. I would think more like a 3rd if even that good. Uh, sorry to say this but... Remember the Ogunleye trade? We traded our 3rd round pick to the Dolphins.
October 16, 200421 yr Whos better O Gun or Brees? Hence why the Bears won't give a 1st rounder for Brees.
October 16, 200421 yr Whos better O Gun or Brees? Hence why the Bears won't give a 1st rounder for Brees. Yea, but... We traded Booker(OUR #1 WR) too.
October 16, 200421 yr Whos better O Gun or Brees? Hence why the Bears won't give a 1st rounder for Brees. He was just saying the third round pick has been traded already.
October 16, 200421 yr Yeah I forgot the 3rd pick went to Miami. Thanks for the reminder on that. Still the Bears won't give a 1st rounder for Brees....maybe give them Hutchinson lol
October 16, 200421 yr give a 1st rd pick for a guy who was drafted early 2nd and isnt even needed doesnt make sense
October 16, 200421 yr Eh... I don't quite remember the draft, so I can't tell ya which round he went in. Couldn't we trade for Patrick Ramsey?
October 16, 200421 yr Eh... I don't quite remember the draft, so I can't tell ya which round he went in. Couldn't we trade for Patrick Ramsey? Brees was the first pick of the second round in 2001.
