November 1, 200421 yr With 1 day left, lets do an electoral vote prediction contest. You can use this website to help your numbers. http://www.mockelection.org/electionmap/ I'm saying Kerry 299- Bush 239.
November 1, 200421 yr 269-269 -- American people have election stole from them for the second consecutive time
November 1, 200421 yr The only prediction I feel safe in making is that there will be claims of shenanigans on both sides of the ticket, and that the final decision will be delayed again for at least a week or two.
November 1, 200421 yr 269-269 -- American people have election stole from them for the second consecutive time The country would burn to the ground if it is tied at 269.
November 1, 200421 yr The country would burn to the ground if it is tied at 269. How about this for a scenario then... The results come in 269-269 in the old system, but a Colorado proposition passes, which allows the states to split it votes. Kerry, who would have lost the state in the old system, carries the Denver area and the 2 electoral votes it's worth, giving him a 271-267 victory. How quickly would this result be over turned?

Could they do it retroactively? Or would it apply to the next election?
November 1, 200421 yr Could they do it retroactively? Or would it apply to the next election? It's for this election I believe.

A 269-269 tie goes to a tie breaker. Each state gets one vote, cast in favor of the majority of the state's delegates. They have already decided that Bush would win in that case so Kerry needs 270.

November 1, 200421 yr 269-269 -- American people have election stole from them for the second consecutive time Then each state in the house gets one vote. And the senate votes for the vice president

November 1, 200421 yr That map is awfully fun to play around w/. Okay, so if Kerry can get the upset in Texas... I really hope, I it goes the other way, but I think Bush takes Ohio and Florida. 289-249 in favor of Bush. No protests or recounts, it'll be over late Tuesday night. EDIT: One more prediction -- Kerry wins the popular vote, giving us another reason to hate the electoral college -- leads to lots of b****ing about the ec, but again nothing gets done.
November 1, 200421 yr Author The extra 61 electoral votes coming from Puerto Rico then? don't forget Guam and the Virgin Islands.
November 1, 200421 yr I come up with 285 - 253 for Bush. (Maybe we ought to make a list at the end of this thread.) Hint: By "we" I mean "ss2k4"
November 1, 200421 yr The extra 61 electoral votes coming from Puerto Rico then? No, that's from the states that both candidates will claim victory in.

November 1, 200421 yr Do you have a site where you can click states and it will gives you a total? Just the one somebody posted earlier: Here
November 1, 200421 yr I came up with 274-264 for Bush. But that is just a huge guess on my part. There are just way too many states up in the air.
November 1, 200421 yr The country would burn to the ground if it is tied at 269. If the electoral votes are tied, the House of Reps picks a winner. So by hell or high water one guy will get sent home packin'.
