Alright This plan starts off from last year about this time going into the winter meetings....

First an foremore... WE Signed Colon, when we traded for him to a 4 year 42mil extension

SO the Pitching staff going into the offseason

Colon

Mark B

Loiaza

Garland

Danny Wright

Next, the most important peice to this puzzle, We Sign Vladdy to the sum of 5 years 76/7 Mil

Next we trade Maggs, to either the Mets (Who the old GM loved Maggs) or shop him for another front line starter.

More to come....

You're right this would have easily won us the world series. :rolly

By the way, we're a tad bit over the budget.

This dude is too over the top to be for real...

I think we have a troll on our hands :headshake

How can you start out a plan with a hypothetical..??

I mean c'mon.. anyone can start off with "we should have".. or "what if"... Hell.. if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.

she'd have some explaining to do as well. :P

Had we hypothetically resigned Colon at 42 mill a year, the Sox would have ended up trading Konerko for absolutely nothing, because they would have had to have made that move. And why in the world would Colon resign with us at 42 mill when he could sign with Anaheim for 52 mill over 4 years? Or was that a typo? Either way, that would have been a terrible move...he would have been killed by the likes of the Tigers and Indians, and while that sounds funny, both teams had very solid offenses. And in USCF, he could have given up 35-40 homers...his ERA would have probably been around 5.00. For 10-13 mill a year? No thanks...thankfully that move was not made.

Also, had we signed Vlad(who, for that much money, was a risk anyways...so soon do we forget that he was hurt and out for half the year in 2003 with a back injury, and back injuries can flare up at any time), Maggs's value would have dropped an incredible amount. And we would not have been able to get a good young starter, even from the Mets, for the league minimum. The Mets may(or may not have) given up Kazmir for him, but either way, he would not have been in our rotation this year, so you can give up that pipe dream.

Your plan has many flaws in it and, quite frankly, would not have worked. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Someone on this board said this, I can't recall who, "If it weren't for hindsight, some people would have nothing to say." What's the point in starting a post about what moves you would have made last year.

Wait a minute, Wait a minute...

So ^_^ ...

You're telling me  ...

Your plan for the 2005 Sox starts with...

Moves we didn't make in 2004? Wow. This guy continues to amaze me.

It was YASNY.

Didn't he suggest the trade: Cotts, Diaz, and Anderson for Casey Fossum. Better GM than KW indeed

I will jump in here, univited as it may be.

Anthrax ... you seem like a good baseball fan and a passionate one.

If I may, can I offer some friendly advice, and I mean friendly :) , I am not trying to be a smart ass here.

You might want to slow down a bit, read more of what other people have to say, and pick and choose your comments. We get it that you despise Williams, that's ok, lots of fans do.

But, you're coming up with hypothetical stuff about last year and pulling it out of thin air. It's pointless to do that, just as it's pointless to say "X player would've signed for x dollars" or "we could've gotten X player from the Mets", etc.

That's all pie-in-the-sky stuff, which will unfortunately get you into nothing but arguments here.

Sit back, learn a little bit from some of the real good posters (there are lots of them). You will be amazed at how much you can learn here by reading and listening. I still learn stuff about baseball every week by coming here. Just last week I learned about some draft choice compensation stuff I thought I knew, but didn't.

It will make your existence here a lot more fun, and for everyone else too. :)

By the way, we're a tad bit over the budget.

To expand on his "perfect plan" we should of then signed every single free agent on the market, and some just to put in the minors for playoff rosters later on. Then trade for every hot player after the all star break, just so we can have some momentum going into the playoffs, then win every game. Thats a WS title right there

I agree with the way you think Anthrax!!!!!!
