Sexson to the Mariners

Featured Replies

Huge pickup, no pun intended. I really like Sexson, I think he will put up huge numbers at Safeco, he can knock it out of any part of any ballpark.

On another note, because Sexson is probably not going back to the D-Backs...

How bad do they look for making that deal for him in the first place? Didn't they give up something like 5 or 6 players for Sexson? For one year of 20 something games and injuries? From a PR perspective, not re-signing him is terrible...

But I guess since they've gotten Troy Glaus and Russ Ortiz for the long haul, everything is going to be ok.

I mean we b**** about the White Sox organization, but the D-Backs are a hell of a lot worse (even though they won a world series recently). They're in for a world of hurt in the next few years.

Nice pick up for the M's. They targeted him, they got him. Bravo.

Great move if he's healthy. Sexson may strike out a lot but he has a TON of power, and as far as I can tell it's not steroid enhanced. He is one of my favorite players, that bomb he hit against the Cubs last year was astronomical... if it didn't hit the scoreboard it might still be going.

Well concerning the Sexon deal.... you basically traded all those players for Troy GLaus, because the money saved from signing Sexon got them Glaus.

This brings up, once again, the BIG question:

Would you be okay with the White Sox absolutely SUCKING for years in trade for a World Series championship?

....I would....

I have heard people say that, but my question is, would people put their money where their mouth is. First of all would they pay 50% more for tickets in order to get a $100 million payroll? And secondly would they keep buying tickets for years after a WS, even if the teams sucked?

I submit to you the Chicago Bulls.

....through thick and thin....

I've been going to games when the Sox won division titles and when they won 70 games, as have others. I'd keep going to games, no doubt.

Baltimore is shooting themselves in the foot this offseason.

They questoned his physical results.. and poof... he's gone.

What the hell is wrong with Peter Angelos.. :bang

Seattle could end up with both Sexson AND Delgado while the O's miss out. They haven't signed one free agent starting pitcher either.

And they aren't going to get Pavano either. This is how messed up things there are .. they offered Pavano MORE $$ initially (before the Yanks made an offer, of course) than he had gotten to that point and the rumor is that he didn't even return their phone call. It's sure going to suck in Baltimore the next couple years..

Not to you personally Critic, but there are a lot more of the bandwagony types I am wondering about. Would it be worth $50 a seat to get a $100 million payroll?

They probably got a little gun - shy from the Sidney Ponson signing last season, and how that blew up in their faces. At least they got some young pitching to build around I suppose, but no it won't be much fun in that division for the next few seasons.

Speaking of jokes of an organization.... When are the O's going to go hot and heavy for pitching????
